how about miles as head coach, crowton as offensive coordinator, and bring in saban as the defensive coordinator....now that would be a dream team coaching staff.

I hope Nicks defenses are better, he specializes on that side of the ball but on the opposite end Miles offense should be better and are better than Saban's were, why because his specialty and background is offense

I very much doubt this. The Man is respected in every way you can imagine.

Its just the retards that try to say anything to stir things up just so they can get some kind of benefit from it.

The defense isn't playing well right now, but the offense is playing tremendously. I don't sense any overall slip. Obviously, it's inevitable that we will eventually slip from our current status as national champions, but slip overall as a program? No sign of that anywhere in sight right now.

If the defensive problems continue, then we'll have to trust Miles to take care of it, like he did with the offense when we weren't getting the job done in certain games in 2005 and 2006. Do you know of any reason not to trust him to do that?

And of course, the real lifeblood of the program is always going to be in recruiting, and there are no signs that we are slipping one iota on that front.

Why not try a co-head coaching system...Miles will be the Offensive Head Coach, with Saban as the Defensive Head Coach...pay both $2.5MM/yr with incentives. We'd probably save money with the DC's since Saban hires them just for title, as he's the "master supreme" at D. Crowton would hold his title as OC. Both have an amazing recruiting prowess with each having advantages over the other in specific geographical areas.

Umm, Lil' Nicky had ONE dominant defense and that was in '03. The other years, especially in '04, they were average to slightly above average.

I'd take issue with your characterization of the '04 defense. Our offense was horrible that year, but we went 9-3 (albeit against the weakest schedule imaginable for an SEC team) almost solely on the strength of our defense. The defense looked like crap against Georgia, Ole Miss and Iowa that year (accounting for two of our losses), but otherwise it pretty much carried us.

Playing this year's schedule (with this year's versions of the teams, not 2004's), that 2004 team likely would have lost 4 or 5 games in the regular season, but it would not have been because of a lack of defense.

If LSU beats Alabama this year, it should take care of this. Particularly since Bama will no doubt be rated higher if season results are similar.

Something I saw on College Football News today that talks about the national perception of Les Miles then provides an example of his superior coaching in the same breath:

"To many, comparing Meyer to LSU head coach Les Miles would be like comparing Chris Rock to Carrot Top, but on fourth and one on the Ole Miss 32, would you rather have Miles calling the play, considering how he’s made a living over the last few years on coming by gambling when the game is on the line, or would you want the ill-fated, Meyer-called, Tim Tebow power run?"

38-6 Overall
22-6 SEC
16-0 Non Conference
22-2 @ Death Valley
3-0 Bowl Games
2-0 BCS Bowls
1 SEC Championship
1 National Championship

Who cares what people say? Anyone who thinks he's not a good coach simply are ignoring the facts, and facts don't change with opinions.

Miles will never get the respect he deserves.

The guy just needs to keep piling up the metal until the hacks at espn pull their heads out of their orifices.

Mark May

Who is this guy? I don't know any black guy that acts or talks like him. Somebody check and see if he is. I doubt it. Regardless, he's a Big Ten homer if I ever saw one, and he liked to crawl up Pete Carroll's arse too. He would hamster for Pete a lot, and I have not liked that either. In all, though, he's better than the next guy.

Lou Holtz

Spitting mad I am about this guy. What is he saying? He gets melodramatic and pretends to talk to people on a rotary phone the guy is goofier than Howdy Doody. Lord help us all.

Corso

This man is crazy like a fox. He actually is pretty insightful and has been less ridiculous the last couple of years because of Lou's emergence as the resident dunce. Corso is likeable and fun.

Kirk Herbstreit

This guy loves the Big Ten and USC almost as much as May, and he hates to give the SEC its just props. But in all he knows more about college football than most jerkoffs on this board.

But to let these guys say for one second that Miles is not a good coach, they are just laughable to do so.

It makes no sense.

NCAA Stats - Total Defense as of 9/27

Total Defensive Ranks
Alabama = 18 LSU = 19

NCAA Stats - Total Offense as of 9/27

LSU = 27 Alabama = 57

Your right. We're slipping below the expectations of our former God, erm, I mean coach. Things aren't always as they seem. Relax.

Yeah, that Blue Grass Miracle was one heck of a coaching job by Saban. Oh and the year, Davey hit Clayton in the endzone vs. Kentucky to win the game with 14 seconds left....another stellar defensive job by Saban vs. Kentucky.....these guys need to do their homework.
