Glenn Schumann...I think this is a no brainer

Hire this guy as you DC and let’s move on to the OC hire.

Love Glenn he's a great recruiter too. Only issue is Georgia in playoffs and him coming on board to close out early signing period.

Would be a grand slam. He might be waiting to see if Dan Lanning takes a HC job to get the full time UGA DC job, but I’d offer him a bunch of money right now.
For reference on Schumann…when he was a GA at Alabama as literally a 18-20 year old, he was 1 of 3 involved in Alabama defensive game planning, the other 2 being Saban and Smart. Dudes a straight up prodigy.

Agreed, surely being the #1 defensive decision maker on staff is better than being the #3 decision maker behind Smart & Lanning.

I say let's hire both Schumann and Lanning as co-defensive coordinators. If we only snag one we'll still be ok.

The good news about coordinator and assistant hires is that you can actually go public with them while they are still at their current school. So, not only can you lock in great coaches, but it is great publicity for the school they are going to. There doesn't have to be a veil of secrecy like HC to HC moves.

Go get someone who has actually called and installed a defense. He needs to cut his teeth at as a DC without Kirby and Saban before he gets a job this big. Pass

He’s spent the last half decade as one of the architects of the best D we’ve seen since LSU and Bama ‘11. But no, he hasn’t “called plays” as a coordinator. But here’s an interesting fact: Saban was a play caller once, DC for the Browns. He got fired from that job and Mich St still had the nerve to make him their HC!

I’m not trying to troll but why would he jump ship for LSU? Lanning isn’t long for his current roll and he will be made the DC at UGA.

A bird in the hand…yes maybe he could wait a year to maybe become your next DC or go ahead and make that leap now at an elite DC job, get a big raise, and begin his ascent to a HC gig
