Think about it this way
If Russia took over 100sq miles our 113 billion and several 100k lives was only worth 1/4 of a sq mile

Worse than all of that is the fact that we sent Boris Johnson to tell Zelenskyy to not sign the peace treaty with Russia that was on the table before the war started
It would have required Ukraine to remain neutral like Finland
Edit. Yes I know Finland joined nato in may of this year
