New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell took off for Busan, South Korea, on Tuesday to attend a climate expo on sustainability during the era of rising seas and other climate crises, according to her administration.

Cantrell is the only U.S. mayor attending the event, according to a press release.

The mayor’s office wouldn't say whether Cantrell planned to fly in first class, business or coach on her way to South Korea.

I guess it beats shuffling papers and reorganizing her slide deck as a way to look busy. Democrats always seem to have no-show jobs.

Cantrell's affinity for travel came under fire last summer, when the mayor took several trips to Europe in first- and business-class seats on the city's dime, sparking a debate about whether the trips were worth the cost to taxpayers.

In October 2022, after earlier refusing to do so, Cantrell agreed to repay the city nearly $30,000 for first- and business-class flight upgrades on trips she'd taken since the start of 2021.

Why not say?
Are they not a public entity?
She’s … unfortunate.

Bit of a stretch

The NOLA mayor's job looks like a continuous vacation.

The city should buy her a first class ticket and pay for all expenses. One way.

Maybe her staff can "accidently" book her on a one way to North Korea by mistake.

Maybe a good start is making sure your contractors are driving sheet-piling and building the levees to the contracted depth and finish elevation, respectively.

Doubt seriously that South Korea is that worried about its coastline when China is buzzing its airspace every other day. Is there a thing like a "smart bomb"???

hopefully she’s able to take an extra day or two and visit the northern half of the Korean Peninsula. I hear Pyongyang is lovely this time of year.
