I don't see anything in the article to debunk their claim. Looks like they were denied service because the restaurant staff finds their conservative Christian views to be offensive

This is my problem with the Left. Nothing they do is based in principle. They waged war since the 60's for free speech, but it turns out they only wanted free speech for themselves. They don't value privacy; they just love abortion. They don't hate discrimination. They just hate conservative Christians. And so on

quote:

The president of a conservative Christian advocacy group whose members were denied service at a Richmond restaurant spoke out Wednesday, responding to a statement claiming the location has "always refused service" to anyone who makes their staff feel "uncomfortable or unsafe."

"We were certainly shocked that this happened, and I think most people assume that food service is something that we can all agree on," Family Foundation of Virginia President Victoria Cobb told Harris Faulkner on "The Faulkner Focus."

"It's stunning, and it does feel a bit like ‘no Christians can eat here,’" she added, slamming the restaurant for alleged "religious discrimination."

Metzger Bar & Butchery emphasized the importance of "dignity" and a "safe work environment" for staff members in its statement defending its decision to cancel the conservative group's reservation, but Cobb argued deferring the blame to waitstaff members is irresponsible.

Christians make us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Muslims are welcome.

This is an easy fix that Christians and conservatives are too lazy to do.

Don’t eat at Metzgers.

They have a pretty decent statement about it on their website

The Family Foundation of Virginia 0 We've Been Canceled! Again.

quote:

Welcome to the 21st century, where people who likely consider themselves “progressives” attempt to recreate an environment from the 1950s and early 60s, when people were denied food service due to their race. Thankfully, in 1960, 34 brave Virginia Union University students held a peaceful lunch counter sit-in at Thalhimers Department store in Richmond to demand service at a whites-only counter. They were convicted of trespassing but, after a tremendous legal battle, were vindicated by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Welcome to the double standard of the left, where some believe Jack Phillips must be forced to create a wedding cake as part of the celebration of a same-sex ceremony but any business should be able to deny basic goods and services to those who hold biblical values around marriage.

She's not wrong

And to the point about Muslims...well they obviously take a much more hostile stance toward gay people. And not just on the grounds of marriage.

Prediction:

The adornment of Christian-themed apparel will eventually invoke the same emotional response as wearing a bright red MAGA hat.

This has been the goal.

I’m not arguing that’s the only route to take. But if Christians and conservatives just stopped going to Merzger’s they might see an immediate drop of 5-10% in revenue. That’s real dollars to a restaurant that’s probably not in great financial shape from the last three years.

I'm not a Christian and that is reprehensible.

I hope they end up owning the restaurant.

I guess everyone here thinks the Christian baker should be forced to serve the gay people too or the web designer forced to offer services to gay people.

Either people can serve who they wish or they have to serve everyone. Pick a side.

That's a pretty conservative estimate

The Venn diagram of people in that metro area that are either Christian or conservative is probably close to 60% or more

What we think about it is irrelevant. The courts have decided that they have too.

All I'm asking for is a level playing field

Kinda like the conservatives applauding Putin for outlawing LGBTQ propaganda in that other thread? Goes both ways.

Geez, Why is this so hard for people to understand. It's not like you are limited to a cell service provider. Restaurants are an easy choice. If every Christian or any one with morals stood up I am sure the doors to this place would close.

You can refuse service to anyone. Choice is yours. That is what everyone thinks. If you don't want to make a trans cake. Then you loose that amount of business. Your choice. If you want to serve Muslims over Christians your choice.

Problem is the Christians won't stand together.

As for marxians who refer to themselves as "progressives," it's never been about muslims.

Muslims have always been considered "hands-off" by them.

It's always been about that other religion - the one considered among the cornerstones of western culture/civ.

This was said back in the '30s by one of the "luminaries" among the marxians - and the attitude has never waned after all these years:

Because Christianity has been dominant in the West for over 2000 years, not only was it fused with Western civilization, but it has corrupted the workers class.

The West wll have to be de-Christianized, by means of a long march through the culture...

The new battleground, must become the culture, starting with the traditional family and completely engulfing churches, schools, media, entertainment, civic organizations, literature, science, and history.

All of these things must be radically transformed and the social and cultural order gradually turned upside-down...
