A&M money - this is what we're competing against

There's an article on the ESPN site about Jimbo, the state of the A&M program, how Petrino will fit in, etc. But the following really stood out to me as an example of the kind of money they have available. And I'm sure the same can be said of Texas as well.
That kind of money is just insane, and as long as NIL is basically the Wild West, with no rules and no limits, it's going to be hard for us--and just about anyone else--to compete with the kind of money A&M and Texas can throw at recruits. I'm sure this is a topic of serious conversation in AD offices all over the country.

When you look at the financials, it's hard to say Fisher has lost crucial support. Money has poured in for the upgrading of the football facilities, with four donors giving $62.5 million as part of the centennial campaign. There were two other $5 million gifts, meaning six people gave to the tune of $72.5 million.
Season tickets are sold out with fans purchasing nearly 93,000 of 102,733 seats, which is a record for Kyle Field since its expansion in 2015. Bjork said Texas A&M has sold 23 new suites, and donations are tied to those suites.
"And we're about to hit $20 million in sponsorship revenue. We've never hit $20 million, and that's separate from donations," Bjork said. "So in every metric of support, it's never been better."

The NIL/ transfer portal era sucks.

What kind of upgrades could they possibly need?
See, this is part of the reason we have this NIL clusterfrick now. For decades, schools pushed back against paying players saying they didn’t have the money to do so. No, you did have the money, you just invested it in a new escalator and gold plated training tables.
That led directly to NIL and it’s a mess.

Let me say this one more mfer time, that’s nothing and I mean nothing if the big time Texas alums get involved. They can drop 100 million a year on NIL easy probably with 4 or 5 donors

yep and it's too bad. college football will never be the same and that is unfortunate, because I loved it like it was even when money was under the table with coaches playing hide & seek

Decline has set in. It's all around. Starts at the top.

It's going to need to be said for another decade before it finally sinks in.

I believe it’s the end of college football and LSU we know. We can’t compete with that kind of money and slowly most people will start to wane on their money commitment towards LSU when it’s obvious we are out of the big picture now

Yeah, kids received nothing prior to NIL. There was no benefit to them going to college.

We CANNOT compete with A&M $$. Thats a fact!

I wonder if Congress ever gets involved. These collectives have instantly become pay for play which clearly was not the intention of NIL. The ultimate irony is Maason Smith getting suspended for doing what NIL was truly intended to address.
College football is going to be pretty boring if Texas is buying their way to a title every other year. I think it became a lesser product when Saban had Alabama at the top every year.
Heck SMU might be able to buy their way back to the top again.

Give me a break. Jesus, you’ve developed into one of the biggest cocksuckers on this board in pretty short order. Impressive.
I’m talking about money, you know that. But I assume you also do a ton of hand wringing about NIL too. So maybe you’re just fricking stupid.

Besides Collin Simmons Texas is getting their arse handed to them on the trail this year - they’ll get Kobe black also
They’ll have to have a good season to keep Simmons though
A&M didn’t have a great class last year and their current class is nothing like 2022
Most of their class is east Texas kids - they’re not spending all kinds of money on national recruits
Why aren’t they buying a 5* Qb in the last 2 classes with all that money ?

Not only do both schools have that type of money they are also VERY desperate to be relevant again. Making them go cuckoo in this new environment. Bunch of assholes

LSU sports have benefited and thrived more during this era than any other school

Best thing that ever happened to college football. Exemplifies what America is built on. A free market. To not like NIL/transfer portal is to not like capitalism and America. FACT!

$ hasn't bought them anything as of yet
We will see if their model works
If $ wins out than Texas and Aggies should dominate the SEC

It sucks but teams that are starving for a championship will try to buy one. Not only can we not compete money wise but we’ve been successful recently. Texas A&M, Texas, Michigan, USC, Florida St, Miami ect will do whatever is take to become a threat to win a National Championship.
