Omi Chinese Menu- Help (pic)

I can't decide which of the specials to order. Any ideas?
I actually just completed a feast there:
Hot/Sour Soup lg.
Garlic Eggplant
Cumin Pork
Sweet Vinegar Ribs
Spicy Fried Chicken (forget the name)
Total bill about $60 which is a steal.
I have no idea what the special board says.

Went last week, we tried the kung pao chicken, cumin pork, and garlic shrimp. All really good, solid portions, but beware if you aren't into red peppers..their hot dishes are swimming in them.
I think they really are missing out in not accentuating more their chinese menu and fare in a lean BR Chinese scene. Their whole menu is practically hibachi and sushi, and at fairly high prices. BR is loaded with sushi, and unless they prove a cut above, the location alone will kill them.
My mother told a chinese friend of hers about them, she had been to Koi before, goes to the Chinese church off Old Hammond, and is a Dim Sum regular.
Hope word gets around and they last, but am skeptical if trying to make a name based on sushi in Essen's loaded Japanese market.

I agree they should push more on the Chinese menu since it is such a differentiation and amazingly good. The times I've been in there, I was very much out numbered by chinese patrons. Been twice on a Friday night and I think my wife and I were the only non-asian folks in there. Similar for weekend lunch, but there were a few white folk. The Friday evening crowds seemed like a mixture of families and college students. None were eating Sushi that I saw. Mostly communal hot pot with additional dishes being passed around.
As far as hot, it does tend to lean Sichuan. Omi is scaled down a bit as well. I ate at one place in Atlanta over the Memorial day weekend that took a solid 30 minutes for my taste buds to recover. Water tasted strange due to the sichuan peppercorns.

Those peppers are there to season the dish and give it some heat. You don't have to eat them

I didn't intend eat them, just that there are so many in your dish sauce, that faint eaters may want to watch out or request a reduction in heat.
I like it hot, but some women find it a tad much.

Understood, I was referring to the sichuan peppercorns in the dish that aren't visible. Those are the one's that numb your mouth and face vs capsaicin heat from peppers.

I've had 3 entrees and they were all ridiculously good. I rank them in this order:
Sweet and Sour Fish - you get a ton of boneless fish filets, super crispy. It's not the bright red sauce. It's the traditional sauce made with brown vinegar.
Garlic Shrimp - about 20-25 shrimp in a spicy sauce with wok fried veggies.
Sesame Chicken - looks a lot like the chain sesame chicken...lots of it, though.
I also highly recommend the hot & sour soup...get the large. You can get 4-6 big cups of soup out of the large and it's like $5.

Hot and Sour soup is indeed fantastic. It's kind of earthy so if you don't like that it's probably not for you, but holy crap I love it.
