What seafood meals do you cook at home? Share ideas and recipes.
I enjoy a garlic butter shrimp pasta.
Peeled shrimp, the larger the better
Thin spaghetti
Butter
Garlic, chopped
Parsley, chopped
Lemon
Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper
Cajun seasoning
Cook the pasta.
Season the shrimp with Cajun seasoning. Cook in a little butter, remove.
Add more butter and lemon juice and sauté garlic.
Mix in parsley, pasta, Parmesan, shrimp, salt and pepper.

Linguine with Clam Sauce
Ingredients:
12 oz. linguine pasta
2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
2 (6.5 oz) cans minced clams, juices reserved
½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
Salt and pepper
Grated Parmesan, for serving
Directions:
Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Cook pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain well.
Meanwhile, in a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat until the butter is completely melted. Add the garlic to the pan and sauté until golden and fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the reserved clam juice to the pan, bring to a simmer, and reduce by about half. With the heat on medium-low, stir in the clams and the heavy cream. Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper.
Portion the pasta into warmed serving bowls. Spoon some of the sauce over the pasta and top with grated Parmesan, if desired. Serve immediately.

I don't believe I every had clams except for maybe a clam chowder when I was a kid. I may try it one day to see.

I’d like to try this with gulf oysters. Seems like it would be a reasonable substitute. Either small oysters or just cut them into smaller pieces.

lent is about keeping it simple, normally we do pancakes for lunch on wednesday and then we fast, so nothing for dinner
this year we are doing it a little different
today - boiled shrimp for lunch, fried catfish for dinner
friday - crawfish etouffee for lunch and leftovers for dinner

I've been making more pasta meals using Palmini and/or Shiritaki (miracle) noodles. Shrimp, broccoli, mushrooms and pasta. Louisiana brand has a pretty solid lemon butter, and garlic butter sauce in a jar, or a simple light sauce with olive oil and seasonings.
Shrimp Tostadas
Toast low carb tortillas in the air fryer until crunchy, or fry in pan
Quick guacamole or just sliced avocados
Top with sauteed or grilled shrimp and few dashes of Cholula.
Shrimp salad- boiled eggs, shrimp, celery, dill, capers, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper

Fried clam strips taste like small fried oysters. Delicious.
I am not catholic but my parents and grandparents are. No decadent seafood dishes are allowed as lenten dishes for them. Just things like egg salad or tuna salad.

More expensive than a crawfish boil these days.

Ahhh, Lent. The time of year we fast and abstain by over indulging in expensive AF seafood. The true meaning of sacrifice.

Exactly…People who “don’t eat meat” during lent piss me off. They say they’re sacrificing by gorging themselves with fried seafood

Lol. Catholics eating seafood on Fridays pisses you off? Really?
No-meat is supposed to remind you of the “sacrifice” Jesus made for you.
It’s a food board. Just trying to get some recipes and ideas for seafood meals for fun.

It's a strange thing to get angry about.
I make a lot of tuna fish salad during Lent. Otherwise, I don't really eat more seafood than I normally eat.
I avoid meat more than I normally would.
I had peanut butter cheese crackers for lunch and will probably have a plain cheese pizza this evening.
I fry fish from the freezer for a quick meal.

I’m sorry but downing all you can eat crawfish and fried shrimp and catfish does NOT remind me of a single sacrifice anyone has ever made. Ever.
Also, that was probably not the best use of quotation marks.

I bet you’re fun to hang out with.
Give us a humble seafood recipe that we can cook instead of downing all you can eat crawfish. This is a food board, after all. And the thread topic is seafood meals.

My religion teacher in high school talked about how the idea wasnt really to have crawfish boils and fish fries every Friday but hell I loved it.

Gris Gris already did.
It’s nothing personal against you. If anything, I’m more pissed at the poster who said Lent is about “keeping it simple” and then proceeded to post about how they will be having fried catfish, boiled shrimp and crawfish etouffee. Catholics have got to take a step back and see how Lent, especially in Louisiana, is such a joke to people not in the religion. Catholics never eat better than during Lent around here.

Blackened shrimp tacos.
Pound of 31/35 shrimp, peeled and deveined
Avocado Oil
Grilled mango pico de gallo
Louisiana blackening seasoning
Crushed garlic
Sliced onion
Corn tortillas
Very simple dish
Peel, slice and grill mango on hot grill
Make pico
Dice mango and combine with pico
Coat shrimp heavily with blackening seasoning
Thin coat of avo oil in screaming hot black iron skillet
Blacken shrimp (I do it outside because of the smoke)
Let pan cool plenty then add a little more avo
Sweat down onions
Throw in garlic towards the end
Shrimp back in
Heat off
Toss and serve on warmed tortilla
Top with avocado hot sauce

Why discuss this in a thread about recipes and what seafood you cook at home?
Take it to the OT where this is discussed ad nauseum every year.
Not all Catholics eat as you describe.

I’m not saying they piss me off by eating meat. I’m saying it’s annoying they think they sacrifice something but in reality they are getting a treat
