It is just frustrating. We have a handful of courses we have played over the last 20+ years.

We are talking with courses trying to book next year. Looks like most, if not all, will be going up in price about $20-25 each.
Several of these courses aren't worth playing for what they are charging this year, much less another $20.
What used to be a $50-75 average across the 12 months, will now be about $75-100 on average.

I know that everything is going up: labor, materials, demand, etc. Just seems like a bit much. I guess you do like Disney and raise prices until they stop coming.

You guys having similar experiences?

Day of deals seem better, but with a big group it sort of not possible.

If you are just a foursome or 2, you can probably get a deal closer to the time.

Even shite courses are fairly full on weekends. COVID created a bigger golf boom than Tiger Woods. Doesn’t seem to be going anywhere until the next big recession. I think the price of other high end outdoor activities have priced a lot of people out between the cost of equipment, access, etc that $100/ round is still pretty palatable and accessible for most folks a couple of times/month

Really depends on the size of your group.

If you have 20 plus, you might be able to bargin with them if you guarantee some food and beverage sales. We have done that in the Houston area.

If less that 20, GolfNow may be your best best.

We usually have 24-32. Our low is 18.
Yes, our "commissioner" has all the connections and negotiates rounds for multiple months (this course for March and June, that course for Feb and July, etc). Some places we eat on site, but usually the 19th hole is at Twin Peaks or Hooters.
Just does not seem like they are willing to bargain around here. The new normal.

It came out cheaper for me to get a membership at a local club than to continue playing random local courses.

Most golf courses were not making money prior to this high inflation. Even with increases they are probably still struggling to make it.

The price of everything used to care for a course has gone up so it’s just getting passed along to the consumer. It sucks but is what it is

People control it. Don’t like it? Don’t pay. Simple as that.

If you pay, don’t complain. Stop blaming politicians. It’s a YOU problem.

We rotate between 5-7 courses. They range from low 40's to upper 60's. Some cheaper if you pay a one time charge each year and get a discount for each round played that year.

I actually know some people that have given up on golf and are now playing pickle ball and other sports.

They got frustrated with the 6 hour rounds and $90 plus green fees.

Cost of living is up almost 20% over the last three years. It’s not price gouging it’s just keeping up with inflation.

Well the cost for everything used to maintain a course has skyrocketed because one politicians ignorant crusade against oil companies has caused the outrageous increase. Everyone of those products is derived from fossil fuels. Cost is passed on to the consumer, so yeah we can blame politicians for much of it.

I have not played a six hour round except maybe a scramble.

If someone is paying $90 plus then they are only wanting to play top courses and wanting the best tee times. You can play Clark right now for $20 and it will not be six hours.

The course I belong to has been shut down since May for improvements. For the past 3 months I have been hopping all around playing rounds at multiple different courses paying roughly in the $40-$80 range per round. A few things I quickly realized is how much of a huge value it is for me to belong to a club considering how much I get to play and that every course around has it's struggles to be a "nice" course. It's a tough business because so many expect a beautiful course at a $30 per round price. Unless a course is being subsidized by the state, it's impossible to meet some of the expectations of some people at $30-$50 a round.

Correct. It has to have wealthy members (or one like Squire Creek) or subsidized by State, Parish/County, City or HOA.

I have no idea why West Feliciana doesn't subsidize The Bluffs in some way. They really need to.

Any negotiating power you had is probably gone. Every public course in Lafayette at least has full tee sheets every weekend in advance. Why would they negotiate a discount for a group when they know they'll sell every tee time regardless?
