Going to Ireland at the end of August. We’re playing Adare Manor, Ballybunion, Old Head and Waterville. Anyone played there? Any tips for the area? What is the weather like?

I suggest checking out Hogs Head. Pretty special place.

I have been to SW Ireland three times and Scotland five. Be prepared for weather changes and I'm not kidding. I played Old Head in low 80's and got a nice sunburn. The next day it was low 50's with on/off rain at Lahinch. The very next day at Ballybunion we varied in temps between high 40's to mid 60's in a 5 hour time frame. Invest in a great rain suit, rain gloves and wear layers. I usually wear shorts and just put on rain pants if it gets to cold. I also recommend putting an extra pair of socks in a ziplock and place in your golf bag. Wet feet sucks.
Waterville is a great golf course.

Great advice here. Thank you!
Everyone that I've talked to raves on Waterville. I had never heard of it before.

All of those are great but I'm curious why you aren't playing Lahinch. It's not very far from Adare.

Agree with the General on the weather and being prepared for a wide variety. Spent a week last October driving around the country, stayed a few days at Trump Doonbeg and played golf. Beautiful course, south of Lahinch, and a great hotel. We rented a car and drove everywhere, got the hang of driving on the left side pretty quickly. Ireland's great, can't wait to go back. Hope you have a great time. Please report back!

It’s a sponsored trip with limited time. I had no part in setting it up

I have played Lahinch, Ballybunion and Old Head. My only real tip is to bring clothes for every type of weather you could experience in one round, it will change from hole to hole.

I’m not trying to be a Debbie downer but my best advice is to pray your sticks make it and make it safely

It's ok. I've been thinking about that a lot.

What can one expect to spend on a trip like this? I’m not talking day to day but just the price for the package. Did you book it all yourself?

I work in the golf industry, and we are a big account of one of the major shaft manufacturers. They take a representative from their top accounts on a trip every year to participate in a Ryder cup style event.
