LSU golf course condition

Why is the course condition so terribly bad? Surely they can make the condition at least close to Webb. At this point LSU should be embarrassed to have their name tied to that course.

It’s terrible…range will also only give you one small bucket at a time. It’s truly a pathetic excuse for a golf course.

I am of the opinion they are letting it go to shite so revenue will drop off and they can one day have a meeting where they deem a better use of the land will be for __________________.

People have been saying this for a decade.

Been that way for quite some time apparently.

It just blows my mind because the course layout is fun to me. I’m not asking for a Santa Maria condition, the effort they put in now is damn near non existent.

Worst course in the history of Earth.
Not an exaggeration.

Close it down. Only course you’ll pay $8 including a cart and want your money back after playing a few holes.
List any use for the land and it would be a better use than a golf course.

It’s not that bad especially considering how easy and cheap it is to pay.

I've played it a couple times recently and while it's not in great shape, it's a good value if you can hit it in the fairway. It's never going to come back to its previous glory but I'll go play a cheap round and know what I'm getting myself into.

It blows my mind that we are a freaking AG school and have a course like that!

I would argue it isn’t good value though. It cost me $40 with a range bucket to play last weekend. It’s the same price as Webb and nowhere near as well manicured.
Edit: it actually costs $5 more than Webb on the weekends. That’s just annoying

@lsu13lsu
I can tell you don’t play there. It literally cost more than Webb to play there

By no means am I trying to compare us to aTm, but this is their public course on campus. I have played it a hand full of times over the years while I lived in Austin. It is always in good shape and presentable. $50 during the week and $60 on the weekends.

When COVID hit the university shut them down to only 2 employees to maintain the property for 8 months. Neither of which were licensed applicators. They couldn't spray or fertilize anything for 8 months. That is a death wish for a golf course.
The only revenue they get is from tee times and range balls. They receive zero funding from the university.
It's just a bad situation all around. I doubt it ever comes back to decent shape. They host one tournament all year (Freds tourney) and they couldn't even cut the grass before. No one with any skin in the game (including the grouchy old dick who runs the place) has the desire or give a frick to improve the course.
Like others said, its not bad if you know what you're getting into. It's a cheap round. It's the only place in BR you don't have to fight for a tee time. Hit it in the fairway, give yourself a 2 putt, and finish 18 holes in 2.5 hours.

Not sure why they don’t get an ag class to maintain it for a grade.

shocked it is not a parking lot at this point

Was bad before pandemic. Was told that the person who donated the land says it cannot be closed to be made a parking lot. Also was told that the LSU turf department can only offer suggestions, cannot touch the course.

This is false per the last advocate article on the course.
Plus anyone with a brain or who has ran a business could tell you that it would have been closed a long time ago without funding. No way course funds operations alone.

Based on your sample size of one you are telling me what lsu prices are the last two years?
