Despite its flaws, Superman Returns did have the best superhero scene of all time

I'm not sure about that.
The spacecraft would have separated and likely torn an opening in the plane far earlier, resulting in depressurization, breakup and loss of life. This is due to not having adequate load distribution such as forward diagonal struts down to the plane support structure (which isn't there either since it wasn't made for this).
Even if disbelief is suspended here, the plane would have smashed into the ground due to Superman's hand acting as a point load on the nose, which wasn't designed for such a point load force acting on it. They tried to show the shock going through the fuselage, but that would imply that the load was transferred through the entire plane just from the nose.
Also, did Superman not care about the debris field left behind from the large wings? He flew straight through one of them, tearing it further apart, causing even more of a debris field that could not only take out several houses, but an entire neighborhood.

The Krypton scenes in Man of Steel were actually the best Superman has offered since the 1978 film.
Always thought Zod was portrayed well in that film. Too. Much better than in the Superman II. Where he was basically just a revenge world domination type thug.

Why does everyone nitpick Supes to this degree? It’s fricking weird

What hurt Superman Returns is they cut out 1/3rd of the movie where he leaves Earth after finding out that Kyrpton somehow survived, returns to Krypton, comes back to Earth 5 years later, and then at the end we find out it was Lex that set the whole thing up.
That’s a better movie and it’s on the cutting room floor.

+1.
Also, the costume was a swing and a miss. The S-shield is so small it's almost an afterthought and the colors were muted.

They got it far closer with Routh's Kingdom Come outfit on Flash and with the color-adjusted version of Cavill's Superman outfit.

That one got Lois Lane correct, finally.

I know marvel gets a lot of hate on here, but of the last 20 years, Infinity War is probably my favorite superhero movie. That entire movie was paced well and it just kept rolling from one intense scene to the next
The way they handled the hero entrance scenes in that movie were A+. 2 of my 3 favorite marvel scenes were entrance scenes in that movie (Thor and Captain America). Although they admittedly don't have the same impact unless you followed a majority of the saga
Thor Arrives In Wakanda
Captain America - Secret Reinforcements
Honorable mention would be Thor Ragnarok, when Thor awakens his power to the tune of Zeppelin's Immigrant song because I fricking love that song
Or Pretty much the entire final battle of endgame seem from when Sam says "on your left" until Captain America says "Avengers....Assemble
I miss the MCU golden Age

A favorite story told by Terence Stamp:
“I spent an hour and a half driving down here from Ojai, and the first thing I wanted to do when I got out was take a leak. I go into the men’s bathroom and there’s a whole load of guys — obviously, Man of Steel [the Superman reboot] had just turned out. So I take a pee, and I start washing my hands, and there’s about 10 or 12 guys there, and they’re talking about Man of Steel. And one says, ‘Well, I don’t know. If they’d have, like, peeled the buildings off the screen I wouldn’t have been surprised, you know?’ Another says, ‘It was all so loud.’ Then the guy down at the other end, who was only a little guy, said, ‘Yeah, yeah!’ And he said, ‘It really wasn’t as good as the first one, was it?’ And I just couldn’t resist, and I said, ‘You’re a very discerning man.’ And as soon as they heard the voice they said, [screaming in shock] ‘Oh my God! It’s General Zod!’ I swear to God, it just happened!”
Another is Stamp discussing the film Billy Budd, where Stamp played the young, upbeat, and innocent title character. He was exited to work with the established Robert Ryan and was horrified to find that Ryan wanted nothing to do with him. After filming, Ryan explained to him that he (Ryan) was the film's villain, and he didn't want any personal affection for Stamp as a new friend to negatively affect his performance. Of course Stamp went on to play some of the best villains of all time.

It's been awhile since I watched this-- did they slap the shuttle on the back of a commercial flight and say "hey since you're going pretty high anyway bring this shuttle with you?"
Trying to figure out all who the people were on the plane.

They took some liberties with history, but the shuttle use to be "shuttled" by strapping it to the top of a gutted 747. Seats removed. The shuttle wasn't fueled as it was in the film.
And the people were reporters, which is why they all snap out of it at the end of the scene and shout to Superman to ask questions.

I do remember those days. I definitely didn't remember any launches from shuttles or having a bunch of people on board. Glad I wasn't crazy.

There is a bunch wrong with your statement. Even if you are correct about your point load force bullshite, you are contradicting this statement from the first 6 words. You can't speak about suspension of disbelief and then go on a physics rant.

It may not be "the best superhero scene of all time" but when it came out it was by far the best depiction of what true superhero flight would look like. It's just SO well done. It's exactly how I picture flight would be if Superman was real. It's my favorite scene in the movie.
I can even look past the questionable physics when setting the plane down. Superman has always defied the laws of physics, as do most comic book characters.
And I agree, they missed on the suit. Man of Steel suit was better.

Did you miss that this is an alien who can defy the Earth's gravity and zoom around the sky? I'm pretty sure he can figure out your point load

the Portal Scene in Endgame was so fricking good. after 10 years of buildup to hear Cap actually say Avengers assemble.....damn it gets me every time.
his look when he hears Sam say on your left - Evans did damn good there with the emotion.
