Is there any industry more arrogant and hypocritical than the oil industry?

Act like they're the only industry on earth. These are people who preach "pick yourself up by the bootstraps" to those less fortunate, but when it happens to them (every 5 years) it's the end of the world. I'm sick of it and ready for Louisiana to grow out of it (we won't). Here's a hard to swallow pill, no one gives a frick that your industry is down especially in today's times.

I've spent a good bit of time in the industry
Met a lot of good people
But the people that try to make themselves sound like war heroes because they work offshore are annoying
Or the people that act like HUET training is some act of bravery

They are incredibly arrogant. See the other thread where they are getting ripped apart.
They would happily have Americans pay $400 billion dollars more a year for inefficiencies that they feel entitled to and truly believe that Americans have no other useful ways to spend that money.
Having said that, the entertainment industry is worse, just on a smaller scale.

Think oil is worse because they think they do some nobel job that no one else can. At least in Hollywood you have to be talented. The Facebook posts I've seen in regards to oil being down have led me to vent my frustrations here, anonymously.

I worked in upstream Oil and Gas.
I GTFO because who knew when next downturn would occur.
I kinda agree that they should know damn well the industry is volatile AF.
However, many companies such as Exxon and Shell are integrated and chemical and refining projects get cut too as prices dump.
Upstream Oil and Gas is an important strategic industry for our nation.
But, like nurses, they shouldn't think they are special.
