Do you just not really care about recycling?

I’ll admit I care only when it’s convenient. If there is a recycling can nearby, I’ll play along. But, I don’t feel guilty when I drink bottled water, or toss it in the trash if there is no recycling can available.
I work in New Orleans, and a coworker who commutes in from Ponchatoula gave me grief for drinking a bottle of water and how I’m wasting petroleum. I said ‘bitch you’re using way more petroleum on your hour long drive.”
How high is your recycling participation level?

It all ends up in the same place.

Is 0 a level?

I'd care and participate in recycling if we had legitimate recycling programs that actually did what they purport to do.

Everything is biodegradable.
It's just a matter of time.

No, I'll be dead before the world ends

It’s basically a scam. I recycle bottles and stuff like that but don’t go out of my way for it

Do you not care because of the ineffectiveness of the program or do you just not give a shite about other/future people or the world around you?
One makes your seem reasonable and the other makes you an a-hole.

I used to care, but then I learned here that the US just ships it all to China and they then dump it in the ocean. So it’s all our fault no matter what we do. Now I just throw it all in the can.

I don't think it's about sorting garbage and putting some of it in a blue plastic thing, or turning off lights, or setting your thermostat to 80 degrees. It's about not living like an arse.
Pick a home close to work. Do your homework and buy cars, computers, phones, etc. that will last a long time.
Drink water from a cup instead of Coke from a can or water from a plastic bottle.
Got "cabin fever?" Don't take a vacation like a bitch. Clean the place up or work on a project or something.
Hurricane's coming? Clean your yard and refrigerator instead of turning tail and wasting a bunch of gas and money over some thing that will probably fizzle out.
I don't think there's any such thing as an environmental problem without an attitude problem preceding it.

Wait...going on vacation makes you a bitch? You seem like a reasonable person

I have noticed that some people don't ever stop planning vacations. They sit on a beach in Cancun and Google resort prices in Jamaica 8 months later.
This does seem to be more of a female thing nowadays, which is a shame. Time was, women built a happy home for their families.

The idea of not traveling and experiencing the world on a regular basis seems like a miserable life to me.

Depends on what you mean by a "regular basis" I guess. I've been to Europe a few times and to Mexico and Canada, but I can't say any of it is something I care to do much more of. Most of the world is pretty depressing.

Most of the world is pretty depressing.
If you find most of the world depressing then I would posit that you are the depressing one.

I do... I don't have to take the trash out nearly as often.
Hopefully Spokane loves to recycle.

Does not surprise me that cities in Louisiana lack good recycling programs.
Yes I recycle as much as possible and avoid unnecessary use of items like bottled water. In general I also find that people who refuse to make any similar effort are low class, trashy in nature and pretty self centered
