Have you ever been on a jury?

I've gotten called twice for jury duty but never got picked. If you've been on one, what kind of case was it and did you have any second thoughts on your guilty/not guilty decision?

Guilty as could be

received notice a few times in my life, but only had to report to the courthouse once...and didn't get picked that time. I would actually like to do it once just to see how the justice system works.

2nd danziger bridge trial. Not the main defendants. Ended in a mistrial. Wasn't sure if guilty or not.

I get called for jury duty it seems like about every three years but I've only actually served on two.
One was a armed robbery and the other was second degree murder. Both were in East Feliciana at the courthouse in Clinton.
The armed robbery featured a case with a defendant you knew was guilty, but the Clinton police dept did a really shitty investigation. The only thing they had concrete was one eyewitness, an older lady who was the housekeeper for the people that were robbed (it was a home invasion). I knew some of the other people on the jury and knew that some of them were real bigots, and I also knew how unreliable eyewitness testimony can be. The deciding factor for me was that the eyewitness in this case had knew the perp in real life and you could tell that when she said she was certain who he was, there was no doubt. But I do remember thinking that if I was ever in a situation I sure as hell hoped the cops did a better job of building a case then they did in that instance. It could have easily gone the other way with an acquittal if the witness hadn't been so strong. The defendant got a 25 year sentence.
The other case was a second degree murder case where two dudes were drinking together, got in a fight, and one shot the other. We took a lunch break after the defense and prosecution rested but before we were sequestered. When we got back from lunch the defendant had decided to take a plea bargain to manslaughter and got a 25 year sentence also.

First was a child molester. Hung jury, I voted guilty.
Second time I was called, the defense excused me once they found out I had seen the show before. My guilty vote probably sealed the deal.

Three times. Last one was a Capitol murder trial. I still think about it years later

Yep, attempted murder + aggravated arson. Got elected jury foreman by other jury members. Found defendant guilty. He was sentenced to 25 years at hard labor. No regrets.

Civil case, jury foreman. Eminent domain case. People deliberated the evidence and then voted on emotion. Very frustrating.
