Talk about a Monster in Law. Y'all might remember the bride and groom in a golf cart that were rammed by a drunk driver? Well, the Mother in Law is trying to dissolve the marriage so she can be the one to sue the driver and the bars that got the girl drunk.

quote:

The groom whose bride was killed by a South Carolina suspected drunken driver on their wedding night is now embattled in a legal fight with his mother-in-law over control of his deceased wife's estate.

Lisa Miller, mother of 34-year-old Samantha Miller, is even contesting the hours-old marriage between her daughter and Aric Hutchinson, the Post and Courier reported. The bride was killed in April when their golf cart was struck as they left their Folly Beach wedding reception.

Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, of New Jersey, told police she drank a shot of tequila and one beer about an hour before the horrifying April 28 collision. Komoroski allegedly slammed her gray Toyota rental into the couple's golf cart while traveling 65 mph – twice the legal limit on the island near Charleston.

Months after the tragedy, Lisa Miller filed a petition to remove Hutchinson as the personal representative of her daughter's estate. She claims her daughter would have wanted her to get a share of the inheritance.

"Aric and I agreed several times that Sam would want us to do everything together given we’re the two most important people in her life," she told the newspaper. "I never wanted to challenge the validity of the marriage. I never wanted to dishonor Sam. But I feel like Aric is dishonoring my daughter in going against her wishes."

What a bitch. As if her daughter discussed this prior to the marriage. "Hey mom, in case I die make sure you get the money."

A strange turn to a tragic story in which the focus should stay on the POS transplant from New Jersey who was shitfaced behind the wheel and won’t take responsibility for her actions.

That said, the mom probably doesn’t realize she’s hurting their chances of making sure her daughter’s killer gets a maximum sentence. This shite could wait until after her trial.

Pics in the OP are of the drunk driving girl, not the dead girl.

She’s kinda guilty.

Doesn't a marriage have to be consummated before it is considered valid? Or have we done away with that requirement so Anna Nicole Smith types can prowl the nursing home looking for a cash grab?

His lawyers said he has offered Miller half of any recovery in a wrongful death lawsuit if she stopped challenging the validity of the marriage.

That's already damned generous. If she wants more than that, she can take a fricking hike.

I mean, was the marriage license signed and filed with the county after the ceremony? Surely someone thought to do that

Jurisdiction specific, but as a general rule, no.

shouldn't the parent be the one to leave an inheritance?

“Jamie Komoroski, left, in a photo posted to Instagram one week before she allegedly killed newlyweds Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson.”

Aric is still alive. Man, Fox News must be using Larry Leo to write its articles.

Can't speak for anywhere else, but in Louisiana, parents would stand in line behind children, spouse, and siblings. But, they do have a place in line.

The mom can pound sand. It’s her husbands estate now regardless of how long they were married. It was a legal marriage.

I don’t know if this is a legal requirement or not, but I texted my father-in-law a picture of me fricking my wife in the bathroom at our wedding reception just in case this exact situation happened. I’d suggest all you guys do the same just so you have proof of the consummation.
