VETERANS DAY.....Please thank a veteran today

There are so many among us that deserve our praise on this day and they need to be acknowledged. It's a sad day for many of them because of the memories of the comrades left behind and having survivors guilt. I am free to watch LSU today and do whatever else I want because of those kind and thoughtful people. It's hard to imagine that someone I don't even know was fighting for ME and YOU. I can't thank the veterans enough. May God continue to bless the USA and keep us all safe.

If America wants to honor veterans, make Veteran's Day a day off for veterans only. Sucks when I have to work and some America-hating prog gets the day off.

To honor vets chicks should give out handys and BJs liberally.

Happy veterans day to all of you men and women who have served this great nation!

And to the vets that feel weird about being thanked, simply reply, “it was my pleasure”. It’s not awkward and shows appreciation for the person thanking you.
I know a bunch of vets that get weirded out by being thanked. I felt the same way until I gave it some thought and started replying this way.

I've never liked being thanked. Anytime someone thanks me for my service I reply with "no, thank you, your tax money helped pay for my education (GI BILL)". Most people smile and say "that's not enough". I just leave it there.
ETA: Thank you for your service.

Be careful if you say that three times a dependapotamus will appear. If you say it once with BAH in the same sentence it has the same effect.
I have been calling, messaging, and emailing all my former troopers thanking them for keeping me alive and not doing stupid shite that landed me in the CG's office and laughing with the ones that did land me in CG's office those two time.
I always like to give a special shoutout to the Red Legs, rotor heads, and fast-mover jockeys who were always ready to take time out of their day smokin' and jokin' to come get some dumbass grunts out of a jam.

If there are any 92 Romeos in the crowd a very special and sincere thanks. For the Herc and Moose drivers around (I know you guys are here) I appreciate the rideshare service and don't take it personally that I liked to get out half way through the trip.
To all the rest of you that served a huge thanks! To everyone that had/has family that served in the last 248 years thanks to them too, and especially to those that gave all or didn't come back whole.

Today we celebrate Veteran's Day. Approximately 22 Veterans a day commit suicide.

Approximately 22 Veterans a day commit suicide.
Currently, only between 6%-7% of the population are veterans and active duty
As a percentage of the US population, the service members should see daily suicides totalling only 8-9 but instead it's more than 150% higher than the general population.
They do need our help and support. And prayers.
Thank you for posting about this affliction.
