Why have countries like South Africa not taken over more of Africa?

I am not in anyway an expert on Africa but it seems like countries such as South Africa in the south or in the North like Egypt would have expanded to try and get their hands on the natural resources that are there and in many cases untapped.

Would you want more of Africa?

South Africa is in the process of becoming the next Zimbabwe.

Abolishing apartheid really cramped their style.

There is a giant desert in between Egypt and the natural resources of sub-Saharan Africa.

I think there is going to be a major world political shift towards the continent. There are huge untapped natural resources. There are poor people that a powerful country could control?

South Africa is falling apart. They aren’t in a position to take over anything.

Most of Africa is a wildlife preserve

South Africa can’t take over keeping its own lights on, much less invading puny Lesotho or Swaziland.
Know how we know you don’t keep up with current events?

Really is like watching the south after the civil war.
Realize that equality doesn't mean bringing everyone up, more leveling off, while chasing off the top ones who can leave.

Let me tell you a little story about the belt and road initiative...

I am not sure you see what I am saying.
The world is not expanding man is.Civilizations are growing and they are starving for resources sucking it all in. That is why the Middle East is so wealthy.
Africa is huge and the countries weak compared to the rest of the world. Are countries like the US not trying to get there before someone else does?

Bro, South Africa is F@*($ed. They went hardcore woke, requiring certain percentages of races working in industries. That's why there are power outages.
The bartender (he was Zulu) that I was with for over a week told me that "South Africans don't respect life." This is a black dude, from a neighboring country, throwing up his hands and saying, "y'all crazy." There's a sign.
Even other Africans knew they were sunk when I was there years ago. When you remove rule of fair law, (the British system) shite falls apart. Indians made it worse by perfecting bureaucracy. SA laws passed since the ANC was elected have gotten to the point where basic infrastructure can't exist and maintain water, power, etc.
I've been on the South Korea/North Korean border, and have seen more concertina wire *in* the Protea property I was staying at in Joburg, than I did in a place where mines were planted (Korea.)
Most of Africa was colonized by the EU. The smart Africans went to their colonizing countries (France, Belgium, etc.) My favorite bartender from the Congo, Joe, was in Brussels. He was also a paralegal. People that can leave Africa, do.

So I think this is exactly why Putin is getting involved in Africa. He wants the resources and sees the weak government. He can muscle his way in and be sitting at the table and then control those resources to the rest of the world.

South Africa was all up in Angola during their civil war. I worked in Angola with a ex military guy from South Africa and he told me that the last time he was in Angola was in a tank just outside Luanda.
Africa is currently being taken over by the Chinese. They are everywhere.

So, you've missed the previous comments about Belt and Road. That's China.

What Kafka said. Rhodesia was probably the highest agricultural producer in Africa (bread basket of Africa) when the Dutch/Germans owned the farms. Then they were forced out and the land went to the Africans. Zimbabwe is a total disaster now. The old Congo is nothing but an everlasting war zone and has been for years. Zambia is a great country, with people so laid back they will never amount to much. The rest of the southern part of the continent is pretty much the same. The Northern part is so hung up on Muslim that they will never move past that hateful religion.
