After ‘unexpected’ $20M windfall, state to fund train from New Orleans to Baton Rouge

Edwards’ administration has decided to spend that money on the long-planned but slow-moving New Orleans-Baton Rouge passenger rail line.

Fwiw, not a commuter train this is jusy Amtrak from Dallas to New Orleans with a stop in BR.

Ah, yes. The project no one asked for or wants . . . I'm guessing there wasn't a buggy whip maker or candlestick maker project that was ready to go.

How does a train help parishes with storm damages?
Would be better spent cleaning out storm drains

Existing rail lines. Improvements to BR station. Maybe one in Gonzales or River Parish area.
Not a dedicated train between the two, just a once daily each way. And not at times benefical to commuters.

Im not against the idea for something like this, but we dont have the population for this.
Like the Brightline in Fl seems badass, but there are millions more people living between orlando and miami.

That's only one of a million reasons why you'd be justified in being against the actual idea. It's isn't even high speed rail or anything. It is the technology of yesteryear today!
