LINK
The top of the construction crane caught fire, some of it fell across the street hitting a residential building taking out windows. More of it fell all the way down to the street below.
Several injuries but no deaths reported yet.
For perspective

Hudson Yards just seems cursed.

Doesn’t seem like there is a whole lot to catch fire at the top of a crane and cause a collapse?
I’m looking at 4 cranes out my office window right now and all I see is a small little compartment for the operator.
And I guess the motor to operate it. That’s probably the issue I assume

Firefighters attempting to hit it with water from a building top 100 feet away looks like me when I'm too lazy to unwind my hose all the way and I'm trying to water a plant on the other side of the yard
Yeah that will take care of it

Yeah that will take care of it

if you've got the money to do it right, and have the ability to come and go as often as you like, NYC is an awesome place, I love it

Not so subtle “I’ve got the money to do it right”
Just picking because I don’t have the money to do it right! Both of my kids would
Love to live there some day. Too big for me. .

Yea, just busting your balls. I actually have a nephew that has been living there for about 10 years and is killing it with his degree in architecture. Amazing to me since he came from a small town in south Louisiana but has made his way there after starting his career in New Orleans. Unfortunately his success makes my kids think it’s possible for them to live there too.

In the early 90s I had a consulting gig where the business put us up in a tiny condo in Greenwich and we got to wake up every day, hit a diner across the street and catch the subway to Manhattan and party with the owner after hours.
At the risk of being oddly specific this was Kit DeFever and he was a photographer for department stores so we got to watch the models come in and out all day and take photos in all kinds of random outfits.
It was literally amazing and my biggest takeaway is the models were not attractive. They had no curves whatsoever and a blank face that had no identifying features.
The makeup artists would literally paint a face on them like a blank canvas and they told us because the camera adds 10 pounds they had to be borderline anorexic to make the photos look correct.
Now when I see those thin arms and legs photos in catalogs I can't unsee the space aliens.
