We have a bald eagle on the lake at our cottage and either he or the local beaver will take care of the panfish that don't survive being caught (we remove hooks from the fish before tossing them.) It is pretty damn awesome to watch them scoop up the fish.

Of course it swallows fish alive. It wouldn't be able to hunt or fly if it's dead.

It’s pretty bad arse to see them pull up a fish. Surprisingly they actually miss a good bit. It’s really cool to watch them miss and circle back around and try again.

That just might be the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.

The bald eagles by my house (TN River) are always waiting till the ospreys catch a fish, then it’s game on. I’ve got several videos of it, last one few days ago. Osprey catches fish, eagle chases him, crows chase eagle. All three species in a dogfight is pretty cool to see. But it always ends with the eagle victorious

Those truly are some amazing birds. They are extremely light for their size too...(yes hollow bones, I know) but they are a lot lighter than they look.

I would love to see that kind of dogfighting with the birds.

Saw an osprey do that once while playing golf at Innisbrook in Florida. Pretty cool.
