The Nakajima B5N, Allied reporting name "Kate", was the standard carrier-based torpedo bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) for much of World War II. It also served as a high level bomber.
Although the B5N was substantially faster and more capable than its Allied counterparts, the American Douglas TBD Devastator monoplane (the U.S. Navy's first all-metal, carrier-borne monoplane of any type with retracting gear), and the British Fairey Swordfish and Fairey Albacore torpedo biplanes, it was nearing obsolescence by 1941. Nevertheless, the B5N operated throughout the whole war, due to the delayed development of its successor, the B6N.
In the early part of the Pacific War, when flown by well-trained IJN aircrews and as part of well-coordinated attacks, the B5N achieved particular successes at the battles of Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea, Midway, and Santa Cruz Islands.

That's a good looking plane, even if it belonged to the enemy.

I still think you could earn some nice cash with a proper youtube channel giving history of the equipment, tricks on modeling, etc.

There’s a bunch of modelers on YouTube. I even subscribe to a few.

Is this what you do to take your mind away from holocaust denial OP?
No one listen to this idiot. Anyone who knows me, Knows I’ve discussed the horrors of the Holocaust on multiple occasions here.
I challenged him to a ban bet last night. If he can give even passing evidence of me denying the Holocaust I’ll exile myself from the OT permanently. If he can’t, then he must leave.
The chicken shite refuses to take the bet. Instead he just repeats his baseless accusations.
He’s an idiot, a troll, and a liar.

187 posts, so likely a troll of someone who does not like you.

I can’t imagine how bad one’s life has to absolutely suck to become an internet message board troll. You’ve got to have absolutely nothing worth living going on in your miserable existence to have nothing better to do.

Great detail on all your models.

Most Japanese planes had longer wings than their American counterparts, mounted further forward. This gave them extra lift.
They had much less (almost none) armor and no self-sealing fuel tanks. They were lighter and more fragile, because their engine technology was behind ours. They had to build them that way.

Nice work.
Seems like I remember reading that the Japanese were ahead of us with the actual designs and building of the torpedoes. Levelling off once they hit the water and getting to their targets and such.

Hey Darth we’re the torpedos on Kates carried off centerline or is that just the model?

They were off centerline according to the instructions of this kit.

Are these the same types of models I would get as a kid from the store or are they more specialized?

They’re your standard plastic scale model.
