What’s the deal with the Blue Cross complex in BR?

First of all the place is guarded like Buckingham Palace with multiple armed security guards sitting at the front desk in each building and security patrol cars driving around the complex at all times. Second, the complex is massive but the giant parking garage always looks completely empty and the parking lots have very few cars. What’s the deal with all that?

If you made it your business to not pay sick peoples hospital bills you would probably have security also.

They sent everyone home during COVID and never brought them back, at least not at full capacity.

Is this Pennington under a new name? Or something different?

I have a friend who works there. Not sure about the guards but they’re mainly work from home now. I think he only goes to the office one day a week.

NSA rents out a small space in building three.

Would not be surprised. The one time I actually had to go in the building to bring some documents to someone it felt like there was some weird shite going on in there based on the fact that no one was around and the security guards were so up tight with me

They’re all work from home. They actually had a space shortage pre-Rona. Physical protection of health information is as important, if not more important, than prevention from hackers. I imagine they’ll figure out what to do with the facilities next year.

I worked there for 3 years, haven’t been in the building since 2017ish. I was in IT for internal stuff so not directly related to the actual insurance or anything.
People threaten that place every fricking day, as you can imagine. Hence the security.

That business is pretty much perfect for WFH.
And the guards are because the company gets a lot of threats.

It's because they deny the frick out of covering certain treatments. Cancer surgeon can say something is necessary, BC/BS will say it's experimental and not pay for it.
