I’ve seen it a ton this year, the QB underthrowing a pass by 5-10 yards so the DB runs into the WR and causes a penalty. Offense shouldn’t be bailed out for awful execution, rule makes no logical sense.

DB should be playing the ball instead of the player.

This is correct and the downvoters are retarded.

That’s true, and in this case the UGA defender looked up at the ball then ran into the WR when he stopped

he was running full speed, looked up for the ball and the receiver had just stopped. it’s not as simple as “just play the ball” when the ball is thrown sky high like that. if you look up for the ball how do you know if the receiver puts the brakes on?

it was also super minimal hand fighting mostly initiated by the receiver anyway

It's been getting abused for sure. Needs fixing.

NFL is far worse with the spot foul aspect to it.

The DB in that situation almost always was toasted off the line and is forced into that disadvantageous position.

QB shouldn’t be rewarded for under throwing the WR

It’s gotten where throws are being intentionally under thrown playing for the PI. It sucks to watch and puts DB in an impossible situation

He was. He had his head turned but ran into the receiver because the receiver had stopped the route to come back for the poorly thrown ball.

Sounds like the receiver was playing the ball better than the defender.
