*updated 9/28 Both Rangers and Astros won on 9/27, but with the Rangers win, Texas' magic number dropped to 2.
Any combination of Rangers wins or Astros losses equaling 2 wins the AL West for the Rangers.
Rangers have 4 games left to play vs 3 for Astros.
Odds to win the West:

They’ll lost the next 3 to LAA and SEA. Book it. This team is so streaky.

Pitching is not going to win playoff series for them. It was a pen problem, now it's almost every arm.
I'm not pulling against them as an Astros fan. I would hope to face them.
But we all must face the fact that this game is funny, in a Joe Pesci kinda way

You're better off facing teams that have something to lose and the added pressure than you are with nothing to lose.
I'll take the Diamondbacks at their place over the Royals at home.

Both teams need to get out of the West. Tired of 9 PM games.

I am a Rangers fan, I agree here though I really don't blame anyone. Making the playoffs would be huge experience for the guys, especially if they could win their first series. It will have to be all offense because we just wont have the arms after 162.
Chris Young had a lot to fix this past offseason and looks like he fixed several huge holes such as the outfield, 3rd base, starting pitching, and of course a competent manager. That all allowed us to make a playoff run, something no one really thought possible for this team to start the season. I think if ownership can invest heavily into the team in one more offseason we can fix the bullpen problems and have a much more well rounded team that could compete for the pennant.

Maybe, maybe not. May as well get in and see what happens. It’s a funny game like you say

Agreed but I’m not sure where we’d both go unless there was either a major divisional reorganization or 3-5 more teams get added to create 2 entirely new divisions.

AL West belongs to the Rangers if they don't totally face plant and damn near lose out to the finish. Astros gave it away going 2-7 against the A's and Royals.

the fact that this is even a discussion after how bad yall skull fricked us the last series in Arlington is amazing. That being said, our pen is capable of blowing any lead in game or in the division so we shall see.

We came out of that series with a 2.5 game lead and 9 of the next 12 games against a pair of 100 loss teams.

It wouldn't totally surprise me the Rangers did face plant and hand it back to us. Nobody has wanted to win this division this year.

Rangers got healthy again at the right time. I didn’t realize how much they would miss Jung in the lineup (perhaps clubhouse and field too), but the team shite the bed the minute he got injured.

Jung doesn't pitch
Take a look at ur pitching numbers from the pen, esp from the 7th inning on

Oh I’m aware. They’ve given me stomach pains this year.
However, the pitching has been serviceable to the past 6-7 games.
ETA: With even a halfway decent bullpen, they would have clinched two weeks ago.
