Coach Paul Mainieri Receives USA Baseball Award in Dodger Stadium

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri received the 2018 Rod Dedeaux Award Saturday night in Los Angeles, recognizing his exemplary performance last summer as head coach of the USA Collegiate National Team.
Mainieri was presented the award in Dodger Stadium prior to the Dodgers’ game versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tommy Lasorda, the Dodgers’ legendary Hall of Fame manager, and USA Baseball General Manager Eric Campbell made the presentation to Mainieri.
Mainieri is the second LSU coach to receive the honor – Skip Bertman won the Rod Dedeaux Award after coaching the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team.

This award is not for the most "chock jobs" in the last decade. It is a prestigious award given annually to one of the best coaches in the country.
Now that you have clarification, I'm sure you'll want to join the rest of us in congratulating CPM on this achievement. It is not only a great honor for him to be acknowledged as one of the best coaches in the country, but also a great honor for LSU.

I just hope he was taking notes. The Dogers win their division again and again and we should be winning the SEC like they win their division. I was around for the complacentcy of the 70s and 80s. I saw the program turn around into the consistentcy of winning every few years. Sometimes back to back! And I think he would do well to take notes from the likes of "little Italian" Lasorda (ha ha) and the new guy they have now. Players aint losing the games!
