They haven’t even decided how many conference games beyond 2024. The assumption is they will adopt a 3-6 model once they can negotiate a new deal with ESPN, but that’s far from certain. It’s not even clear they won’t expand again. If they do go to a 3-6 model, it’s highly likely Ole Miss and A&M will be two of the permanent opponents. The third would be a top tier team with Alabama, Oklahoma, and Florida being the most likely, probably in that order.

Hope we keep Florida and drop A&M.

First leaks is bama , ole miss, and aTm
Under this scenario Lsu doesn’t have a permanent thanksgiving week opponent
Would rotate. 2024 probably vs Oklahoma unless they split up mizzu and arky
Saban cried that they had auburn lsu and tenn. they could give lsu ark instead of lsu.
Who knows

In other words, they don’t know what the F they are doing.
It takes time to figure out the best advantage for alabama.

With Oklahoma and Texas joining may decrease odds of Texas A&M as perm opponent. Would like Ole Miss, Alabama and Florida. If Nicky has any say Alabama will swap LSU for Vanderbilt.

The leaked 3 make the most sense. No way tv give up on the LSU/Bama ratings bonanza just yet. Whether folks admit it or not, that game is always one on the games to watch lists every year. I consider them our biggest rival. The Les Miles era would look drastically different if Bama weren't the greatest dynasty of them all during his time.

Perfectly stated

Does it get any more ridiculous than nick Saban pitching the history of Mississippi State vs Alabama as an annual alternative to them playing lsu? They can’t with a straight face think tv executives are going to go for that.

LSU should have our two Mississippi rivals and Florida. Would be glad to get rid of the yearly Bama game.

They will tie us to Alabama.

So Alabama would have - TN, Auburn and LSU? No way they would agree to that.

They may not have a choice.

This sucks because the egg bowl and iron bowl gets all the hype while we will get vandy or Missouri and keep getting 11 am slots.

That's the hold up. The perm opponents were picked but Saban threw a fit because TN stopped sucking for one season.
LSU was OM, Bama, and A&M. I'm not sure if that will shuffle after they appease Bama. I prefer to drop A&M for a traditional SEC opponent like Florida or Auburn.

The way I understood the original 9 game proposal and permanents was the following. They broke it down in two tiers, which I assume was based on some sort of historical success and probably future probability of success.
Tier 1
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU
OU
Texas
TAMU
Tier 2
Ark
UK
Miss
MSU
Mizzou
SC
Tenn
Vandy
Each team from Tier 1 would play two teams from the that Tier and one from Tier 2 and then just the opposite for the Tier 2 teams.
I.e LSU got Bama, A&M and Ole Miss
Obviously it’s arguable how they came up with the spilt but Saban did openly bitch about the three he got…LSU Aub Ten. Conveniently, right after the year Ten beat them and was seemingly on the rise.

The only thing that has been established is that no matter how many permanent rivals we have, we will play Texas A&M every year. Hasn't been officially announced, but it's going to happen.

LSU has 2 more championships if Alabama wasn't Alabama. Just bad luck for Miles and LSU to have to go up against the greatest college coach of all-time.
