On one hand, I don’t think the sky is falling, but on the other, things may not be trending towards a championship soon.

I am a bit worried in the short term about recruiting (not a great year for talent in the state during a year where we sure need it) and in the longer term (being in a poorer state during this era of NIL)

Kelly is not going anywhere. And while he is flawed, he’s at least as competent as O and Les.

Can the defense be turned around if the whole staff gets replaced?

Can the obvious holes in defensive personnel be plugged before Vegas?

Will there be a precipitous drop off in offense with Nuss, and with the loss of personnel on offense?

It's all about getting defensive personnel. That's everything right now. Where are your DL/LB and secondary? The talent/depth isn't even close right now.

In the era of the running QB, yes there will be a precipitous drop off with Nuss.

Next year is a serious concern.

This team without Daniels is barely a bowl team. It’s going to take a massive improvement from Nuss and the entire defense next year to compete.

Well take away all those nice running plays from Jaden that gashes defenses and all his rushing touchdowns so yes I think there will be a significant drop off unless Nuss passes for 4K and 40 TDs.

I am on record that BK will never "fix" this if fixing involves a national championship. He cannot recruit well enough to do so.

You don’t think the sky is falling? We are going to be much worse next year. We lose Daniels, that will make us much worse on offense. Defense, as bad as it is now, will likely be worse. We have no help coming unless Kelly pulls some miracles in the portal. Next year looks extremely bleak.

Start by revamping the entire defensive coaching staff.

Also think next year will be a big step back.

No JD
No Nabers
No Thomas
No Diggs
Return some bad players on defense.
Crazy hard schedule.

Gonna be a rough 2024

3 losses in back to back years is pretty close to falling sky in Baton Rouge.

LSU will have easily the best o line in the country. Just need to fix that abortion of a defense.

I like how he gets the ball out quickly but I think he's locked to his primary target. I haven't seen his ability to go through several reads.
He does not have the legs to keep chains moving when OL breaks down.
Yes, there will drop off to a degree.

Just as important. He has done a good job developing a 5th year starter QB. Let's see if he can do anything else.

OK cool.

We're taking major downgrades at QB and WR

Likely losing some of our best (It's comparative, but still true) guys on D without equal/superior players coming in.

Well on the bright side, that’s improvement from the back to back 5+ loss seasons before BK got here

Of course I’m being facetious. Long way to go before we a serious title contender again

Years away from the talent needed on defense. The current recruiting effort is not going to cut it. The defensive staff need to go, but who and what are we willing to go after and pay.
On offense, The drop off after Daniels with Nuss is going to be huge. Without a hint of a real defense next few years will be interesting
