This was the linebacker who was carted off the field. He broke his neck in 5 places, but it looks like surgery went well.
Hopefully he can have a normal life.
Does it seem like this has been happening a more frequently lately? With Sevyn Banks and Major Burns last season?

“The mean incidence of catastrophic neurological injury over the past 30 years has been approximately 0.5 per 100,000 participants at high school level and 1.5 per 100,000 at the collegiate level. This incidence has decreased significantly when compared with the incidence in the early 1970s.”
Quote from a study done in 2009. I’d imagine it’s even less now with the increased attention against lowering the helmet. Even with rule changes, unfortunately stuff like this is gonna happen. Football is violent

That’s great news. Anyone who has had a kid or family member play sports always hates to see anyone get hurt. Hope his recovery continues well and is complete.

Really glad to hear that. Such a scary event for him and his family.

I was wondering. Thanks for the update.
I didn’t realize he broke his neck in 5 places. Hopefully he will continue to improve.

Great news. Thanks be to God. I Wonder whatever happened to the Southern player who had a similar injury at Georgia years ago and wound up living up there for a while.

That's awesome. I followed up on him for a while after his injury but eventually kinda forgot. I'm very happy to hear this.

Ty for this post. That is great news! Now if we can get some of that with #3 that would be perfect.
