He looked like he was getting off the ball a little quicker against Miss St. Once he gets into football shape he will change the dynamics of this defense. May see some spots here and there this weekend.

He definitely looked a lot quicker against state. His job all year is to eat and beat double teams and allow others to feast. It’ll make the defense have to choose between doubling him or Wingo

He’s got a ways to go to command double teams.

It's my hope that by the end of the season our own fanbase knows how to spell Maason and Nabers name.

Is coming off an ACl then right when he gets in Plying shape he sprained his ankle.

When you are a 300+ man you have to pick and chose when to exert energy during the game until you get your game legs back.

This isn’t a video game lol. You don’t just roll out of bed and go do what these kids do for 4 quarters.

He will be fine come mid October watch.

You must not have watched same game as I did. He was double teamed every snap he was on the field last week.

If he becomes a true disruptor in the middle of the line, LSU will have a fairly salty defense.

He is coming off a substantial injury and been away from the field, so it takes some time to get that step back.

I agree, and no doubt he is improving.
He just needs some more time and by mid October he can become a true difference maker in the middle.

The fact that State double teamed him and not Wingo says a lot about respect for him by those coaches.

He has already changed the dynamics of the defense. He was catching double-teams against MSU.

Not every snap, but about two thirds of the time. In the first half it was almost every snap. As Smith wore down they started singling him more. The pass he deflected came on a play in which a single blocker tried to handle Smith who drove him back almost into the QB.
