Just Wondering about noise makers...

Is there an SEC rule against noisemaking devices allowed in stadiums during a football game?
And if so, I take it Mississippi State fans are grandfathered in to be allowed during home games. Does that mean opposing teams' fans can bring comparable devices to that game or what?
Someone please break it down for me. Thanks!

For many years the MSU fans were very good about stopping the bell ringing when the offense lined up. That behavior seems to have deteriorated based on what I heard during last Saturday's broadcast.

Thank god I am not a state fan… could you imagine hearing that BS every home game… year after year…
Would make me question whether I even want to watch football which is the greatest sport to watch known to mankind!

I wouldn’t be able to attend. I can’t stand it. Beyond obnoxious.

Artificial noise makers were banned for the SEC, but MSST got a pass because at the time they were arguably the worst team in the league.

I have to wonder if it impacts the TV viewership. I won't watch MSST home games on TV unless it is against LSU.

They put on the video screen when they can ring the cowbell and when they can’t. They don’t always listen.
I’ve been told that on the field it isn’t really different than screaming fans at other venues. I tend to agree with that because the one time I went there it wasn’t the entire stadium ringing the bells that bothered me it was the one or two right behind me in my ears.

From the article posted by another:
https://www.si.com/college/georgia/football/why-are-mississippi-state-fans-allowed-to-use-the-cowbells
quote:
From the 1930’s through 1974, Mississippi State fans used cowbells at games. That was until 1974, when the conference banned all artificial noisemakers.
Then, in 2010, the schools amended the rule.
It is ironic that the cowbells were a "tradition" from 1930-1974, 44 years. Then they lived without them from 1974 to 2010, 36 years. How many traditions take a 3-and-a-half-decade pause, a pause nearly as long as the so-called tradition?

I was at the game and it becomes white noise after awhile and not all that impactful. They even asked the fans to put the bell down and yell at times. Hard to do both well.

Some of yall would be better suited for the NFL. Yall want all individualism eliminated and further corporatization of the college game?

They are not adhering to that rule of when the center is over the ball.
However, we silenced the bells with our performance, but they should grow up, adhere to the rules and learn how to scream.
36 years to me broke the tradition.. Period!

the “ring responsibly” B.S
always had the theory if that program was better historically they would’ve been banned those cowbells

I don't know where this comes from. In 2009 (9/26/09) I was there my one and only time. This was when Chad Jones intercepted to save the day. I will NEVER go back. I don't have much against Miss State fans, I reserve that anger for the other team from Mississippi. But, the damn cowbells are just insane. My head was ringing during and after the game. So, 2009 they absolutely had them. About 50,000 of them, at least.

Really? Hard to do both at the same time? I guess some folks can't chew gum and walk at the same time.

It's equivalent to if you were a Vandy fan and having to listen to that god awful fricking whistling all the damn time.

I was there in 2019 and I can tell you the fans will ring them more and more as the offense lines up...until a coach seriously complains about it and they start either charging the school a monetary penalty or keep penalizing the MSU team then it will continue and the MSU fans flaunt it in your face.
