Pistol Pete in the movies

I’ll be curious to see how many people here are aware of this. I’m sure some Tiger fans are but I know I never knew about this until just yesterday. And that was only because a local media figure on Cedar Rapids radio was talking about it. The movie was filmed here and in Des Moines. It premiered at a theater here in Cedar Rapids and according to the guy talking, that’s the only showing it ever got.
It does look truly awful, but what a treasure this trailer is with The Pistol in it.

I'm not sure what I just watched, but I'm sure it was the biggest waste of 2 minutes of my life.

I tried out for that movie and was about the same age as Pete in the movie with a similar haircut. They allowed kids of all ages including girls for the initial tryout.
Pete talked to kids & families after in PMAC with a reaction test where he dropped a basketball from back of your neck. You had to clap and then catch it behind back before hitting ground. I remember almost getting it. Nobody did except a really young kid that Pete ‘helped’.

Are you sure you're talking about the same movie? I remember a movie about Maravich when he was a kid, but this isn't that movie. This is some movie about girls playing basketball.

Correct. It was filmed up here in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids.
