All saying LSU and FSU are "mirror images" of each other. But, most cite the LSU secondary as being the biggest question mark with the size and speed of the FSU receivers. I can't say I disagree with that and only hope Zy, Duce and others prove them wrong. But, that could be the difference in the game.
LSU will also put up points and this could be a shootout. But, our secondary against their receivers will decide who wins as far as I can tell.
So, unlike last year, we have to do a better job on third downs and get off the field!

What about our receivers against their secondary?

I think UGA and maybe tOSU are the only teams better than us on paper. We match up favorably with everyone else.

What’s funny to me is that nobody is talking about our offensive fire power. 14 and 4 are two big slow receivers all we gotta do is bump and run with safeties over the top and let Harold Perkins eat.

I'd like to know what FSU's plan is for slowing down Mason Taylor. All of the focus seems to be on Nabors, but BK is known for terrorizing defenses with his tight ends.

I hear them, but I’m not buying it yet. Our secondary consists of 2 returning starters (safeties), 1 FCS all American everyone wanted (Zy), 1 all ACC player (Duce), 1 5 star/quasi-starter (Sage), and 1 5 star Fresh all America that can’t crack into the starting line up. And. 3 star frosh that’s giving everyone fits.
The front 7 is as solid as there is in college football. If they put pressure on the Qb that secondary looks even better.
I think we’ll be just fine. Let’s play!

The secondary vs. FSU receiving corps will be the same narrative every single game FSU plays this year. Our secondary will be better than most think.

Would FSU be favored to win the West and possible playoff berth if they were in the SEC? They are bringing us down to their level.

Our O-Line is gonna win this game for us

i think you are right and that is run and pass blocking.

Putting pressure on J. Travis and not allowing him to extend plays will be the difference.
That is what will help the secondary.
FSU is also a run-heavy offense. They will try to control time of possession.

It’s important, but not the key to winning the game. Who wins the LOS will dictate who wins this game. LSU’s O-line is mind blowing better this year than game one last year. LSU will be able to establish a running game this year like they couldn’t last year. Our front 7 on D is significantly better, and deeper, than last year. Stuffing the run, forcing 3rd and long, and Putting pressure on the QB and forcing poor throws is the key.

This will be the key. I think we’ll score on most of our possessions. And they’ll hit some big plays and score plenty themselves. But if we can get some pressure either from our DL or Perkins and maybe Brooks or Burns on some delayed blitzes and put them in 3rd and long situations, it should make it easier to get off the field.
Not some brilliant, new insight, but I think that’s gonna be the key to making up for our weakness in the secondary. Be creative and take some chances and make some explosive plays (TFLs, sacks, turnovers). We’ll give up some, but should make enough to make up for it. It’s kind of semantics and obvious, but I think it will come down to which team can make the most stops on defense. Every possession each offense fails to score will be a “win” and you’ll almost be able to keep up with those defensive “wins” more than the actual score, because I think both teams will likely score on more possessions than not. Should be a helluva game.

I think that the biggest piece to this LSU team, compared to last year, is going to be Omar Speights. If what we have heard out of camp is true, his ability to do it all is going to allow Perkins to do what he does best: wreak total havoc from all over the field. Mekhi up the middle with Savion coming off the edge, and then adding in Perkins because Speights is there to cover is going to drive offenses crazy.
Add on top of that how many different playmakers LSU has on offense, and the fact that they’re spread out all over the field… I think if JD can be 10% better in the passing game than he was last year then LSU can cover the spread.

This team has enough experience and talent to be a playoff team.
I have no angst about FSU, we will roll big.

That secondary that is a question mark has to go against elite receivers every day in practice.
I'm not saying they will shut down FSU, but saying they will be unprepared for what they will see tomorrow night is just bullshite.

What pisses me off is that FSU's secondary wasn't the thing that made their pass defense good, it was their pass rush
