Thanks for posting this. I may be incorrect, but I believe players who were in JUCO/CC during 2020 and transferred to D1 after do not get the COVID year waiver. That may apply to Merrifield?

Isn’t Young the only one who hasn’t decided yet?

You have Drost on both list but he is transferring out.
45 players but we need to get to 40. Unfortunately it is more tricky than that. We have 41 players (non covid seniors) that need to get to 35. We need to get down 6 more players, 7 if we get Skenes.
The trickiest part will be on the pitching side. We have 23, if you don't count covid senior Bollman. Add Skenes and you have 24 to fit into the 35. Typically a team will carry 19 or 20 pitchers.
Last year we primarily used 12 pitchers and that is without weekend starters going long innings. Add to that, you have Guidry and Simon on the position side of things that could pitch. So how many pitchers do you carry just to have them on the roster?
We already got news that Siravo recently had TJ and is out for the year. Noot and Skenes are still up in the air. I could be totally wrong but a redshirt for Primeaux could happen.
It's going to be interesting how the 35 will work out. If you do go heavy on pitchers and short of position players, do you carry Bollman in the five covid senior spots or do you fill it with five position players?
There is still time to work this out. Noot, Young and Skenes are not done deals yet. Injuries could lead some to redshirts. I wouldn't be totally surprised if some freshmen redshirt. I also wouldn't be totally surprised if we lose a pitcher that we don't want to lose.
If you look at the list, there isn't a lot of excess baggage. I pretty much want to keep every guy on that list plus Skenes. It's just not going to work out that way unfortunately. I'm sure Jay Johnson has already worked through every scenario. We will see how the fall plays out.

Noot hasn't said anything definitive.

I thought it was confirmed in another thread that he had flown to BR and was already with the team.

What about Pineda, the shortstop from Baylor?

Still doesn't mean anything definitive. Negotiations are through this next week still.

Didn’t someone say hellmers was also considering giving up baseball? Unfortunate about Simon, but he clearly still isn’t healthy from an injury he had well over a year ago

Thank you Gents for the feedback. Changes made.
It’s also noteworthy that NCAA’s Transformation Committee may be lifting the cap on scholarship restrictions for equivalency sports such as baseball. It would happen this fall for 2023 implementation.

There was a guy on here a few months ago that seemed to have the Simon scoop, hopefully he will chime in.
