For people who actually saw and remember both. Badger or Casanova?

I've never seen Casanova and I know he's a slam dunk top 10 tiger. That said, for people of a certain age, who ya got?

Absolutely no way to pick one over the other. Everything about them was totally different. Yet both were stunning difference makers on the field that brought sports euphoria to their respective audiences. Both are still difference makers to this day. Tommy Casanova was a fraternity brother of mine. Tyrann Mathieu is purple and gold blood brother.

Casanova. Both were great tigers but Casanova was one of a kind. Speed,great ball skills,always man to man on best receiver and ideal size for db.

I watched them both. Casanova was my idol growing up but Honey Badger was an exciting game changer.

Too young to watch Cassanova so I should probably shut my mouth but it’s really hard to think of a defensive back having a more exciting and impactful year than Tyrann’s sophomore year…. That was a badass season

He was a great player. Solid as a rock.

I saw and remember both. They were both super players. Don't think either was better than the other.

It's impossible to compare Tommy and Tyrann b/c they were always the best athletes on the field in college.

There was a picture of Casanova with that elite unit that had Pat Pete and he dwarfed all of them. His ability to play all of those different positions was unreal. With that, Mathieu in that defense was unbelievable. With that because Mathieu was booted off the team and didn’t play 3 years I’m giving Casanova the edge for a career. Mathieu for a year.

Two different types of players. Both were tremendous athletes.
Casanova was a great cover man and punt returner.
Mathieu was one of the most electric players ever at LSU. His intangibles were off the chart.
I would give the edge to Mathieu. He has the ability to change a game with some amazing plays. He has a great gift to be inbthe right place at the right time.

Recency bias wants to say Honey Badger, but Casanova was a THREE x 1st team All American, was pictured on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the caption, "Best player in the Nation", returned 2 punts for TD in a single game vs Ole Miss (my 1st game to see in person) & was a 3x Pro Bowler.
Head to head, it MAY be the Badger, but in his day, I think Casanova may have the edge.

First game in '70. Saw Tommy play a few times. Different era since Fr weren't allowed to play.
With few exceptions he was the best RB and best DB in every game he played in for 3 years.
That said, Tyrann is the most instinctive football player I have ever seen play. Just on a different level.

Besides being a great player, Casanova made a huge contribution to the overall image of the university and the football team. Besides being a good looking GQ stud, he was a very kind and decent person and had an overwhelming sense of humility about him. He was an extraordinary ambassador for not only the football team but the entire university. He was unselfish and had that rare intangible commodity that you don’t often see today: CLASS
