Tyrann Mathieu may be the best pound for pound football player of all time

Not just LSU. I’m talking to a buddy, and we started reminiscing on our conversations when he played, and then started watching highlights. God reached down and blessed him with something special that I’ve never seen before. He single-handedly changed—if not straight up won games. I remember talking to people during clutch moments and saying “we need TM7 to make a play here.” And he did it almost every time. We got hosed not getting to see him as a Junior, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better college football player in my 35+ years of watching. He’s actually underrated. It’s incredible what he did in such a short amount of time at LSU.

I was in the Georgia Dome for the SEC championship in 2011, never seen one guy will a team back to life like he did with those punt returns. The offense was dead in the water until he got the first touchdown, then the 2nd return was just ridiculous.

May be the best game Ive ever seen by a defensive player. And it’s the real reason Miles didn’t go to Lee in the NCG. As long as the game was close, he expected him to do Honey Badger things and turn the game around.
OP got a downvote? Get the frick outta here. Defend your downvote or get the frick out.

There are some all-time greats in that 190-200 lb range...Gale Sayers, Johnny Unitas, Deion Sanders, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice.

I personally think Tm7 is the best playmaking football player I've ever seen....pound for pound? There are alot of other players that could be mentioned in that convo but playmaker no other player comes close to honeybadger

What I always found amazing what that he not only would cause a fumble but he somehow found a way to come up with the ball and score a touchdown. He did it so many times it wasn’t a fluke.

It was like he was playing a bunch of guys in slow motion. He literally took what he wanted.

He reminded me of a smaller Ed Reed, same playmaking ability and leader.

I still think it’s Joe Burrow.
216 pounds of greatness on and off the field and he plays the most important position in team sports.

We all know it was bullshite but it is what it is. They beat us for the national championship. Claiming the 2011 title would be something loser programs like A&M would do.
It’s not like that was the closest we ever got to sniffing a championship. We have 4 real ones.

I guess Alabama could claim last year under that logic.

Knowing Alabama’s history, they probably are claiming last year.

Well at least Georgia actually won their DIVISION.

I feel you! I think the downvotes are from the "literal perspective." I'm sure if you said pound for pound defensive/special teams player most would agree.
TM7 literally took over games as a defensive player, game after game. When the offense shite the bed with the typical 3 & out. I would yell at the TV saying were going to sic Brad Wing and that Defense on your arse. Then TM7 would come out and do TM7 stuff! The Honey Badger was flat out one of the best players in DBU history. I was pissed & flipping hated the guy for being a f#(%stick and getting kicked off the team. His presence was certainly missed. Dude was a "dog" out there, a generational talent in the defensive secondary. My .02

Exactly. It wasn’t just the forced fumbles. It was the picking them up and taking them to the house. I’ve never seen anything like it. And he did it in his 1st game, on prime time tv, 18-years-old, forcing his way onto the field that had Morris Claiborne and PP7 playing his position. Unreal.

Here are his stats. I am always surprised when I look at them. They are awesome but I swear he had more TDs every time.
In 26 games
Fumbles
FF-11
FR-8
TDs-2
Interceptions
Ints - 4
Int Tds-0
Tackles
Solo - 93
asst - 40
Total - 133
Sacks - 6
TFL - 16
Punt Returns (in 13 games)
Ret - 27
yards - 421
avg - 15.6
TDs - 2
To the OP, objectively the answer is probably no. But the guy was so electric it clouds my thinking.
