Advocate
Leaving a UCLA program amid apparent unrest within the team, gymnast Alexis Jeffrey has transferred to LSU and will be eligible to compete for the Tigers this season, coach Jay Clark said.
Jeffrey, a freshman from Warrensburg, Missouri, is enrolled at LSU and is in the process of being added to the team as a walk-on, Clark said.
"According to team sources, the conflict began early in the fall when several gymnasts heard a teammate who is not Black sing lyrics that included the N-word. Two other teammates who heard about the incident and additional use of the N-word approached the gymnast who had sung the lyrics to help her understand why her teammates were offended and seek an apology."
"It was accompanied by claims that UCLA gymnasts bullied her into transferring by suggesting she take her life or putting rotten fish in her locker or backpack."
The more I read about this story and the situation this poor girl was forced to endure the happier I am to give her a welcome to LSU. You no longer have to deal with those mentally challenged idiots at UCLA who have caused all this foolish chaos.

Welcome to your new home. No one needs that type of harassment.

Well, due to the horrendous journalism characteristic of both Scott Rabalais and the Advocate, I read that entire story and still have no idea who is who, who said what, who was offended, or why this girl was threatened.
And I also don’t give a flying frick about any of it. Welcome home, Alexis. We’re nothing special, but we’re way better than that shithole you just left

Disagree. LSU is one of the premier programs in the country and has knocked on the door of a national title a couple of times.
The worst part of this situation is the rank hypocrisy. This young lady was singing a song with lyrics that is put out by black rappers, much like the songs which blare from auto speakers while stopped near you at a stoplight or at Circle K as you tank up. Its not like she created some racist lyrics and acted a fool on Instagram as some dumb asses have done.
Its a safe bet these same type songs are heard on college campuses every day. Its what this generation knows and embraces. White kids are attracted to black rap and hip hop . Few black kids are attracted to much music put out by white musicians. Thats just the way it is. This young lady doesn't have to undergo some kind of moral cleansing nor should she be known forever more for her alleged oh so hurtful actions. Spare me the tears of hurt until you stand up against these same mysoginistic, racist and violent lyrics no matter who sings them and where they are played.

I will always say we won the Natty over OU in 2016

Oklahoma got far more credit for their vanilla bread and butter floor than LSU received for their more difficult routines.

My kids explained to me that there’s this unspoken thing where white people singing rap songs are supposed to sing a censored version, just not saying certain words, like a radio version. Apparently young people are somehow just supposed to know this. It’s all silly to me, but some of these kids take these made up rules too seriously, especially when there is absolutely no racist intent anywhere in the situation.
This gal is from Missouri. The dispute may be more about a Missouri kid moving to Los Angeles than anything else. West Coast smug is real. Rabalais probably can’t explain it because he doesn’t understand it either.
Obviously UCLA was not a good fit. Welcome aboard and everyone gets a reset and a fresh start.

Funny how those " unspoken things " only run one way.

File it away under, “some young people are irrational and mean,” along with a thousand other unspoken rules that don’t make any sense to older people.

From the LA Times article on the situation it appears these four women to harassed this poor girl have now hijacked the gymnastics program and the no one wants to be on the team now as tensions are high on the team and with the Coaching staff. Its sad because what will happen is that Coaches will be much more reluctant to recruit African American women to their program for fear of what these four have done to the program.

Good for UCLA, now they can get a less talented teammate that is able to sing lyrics in full without qorry of racism.....and less worry about winning too, LOL. Idiots

It isn’t so much about race as it is about toxic personalities. UCLA obviously has toxic and cruel team members. It’s too bad for them.

I read a little about it. Looks like some mean girl bullshite wrapped in deranged wokeism. That lit the fuse of virtue signaling wackos who want a pound of flesh for their social media trophy case.

The transfer portal is ruining college gymnastics.

So because the teammate was white they cannot sing this song?
Uh I’m pretty sure their is a word for that. Oh yea racism!

Welcome Alexis! I hope you find your new home to be everything you are looking for, but more than anything a place where you can thrive and feel safe.
