With respect, I don't think the situations are similar at all. SC is a small state, Florida is huge.

I can't see the SEC wanting another Mississippi or Alabama type deal. Tennessee isn't comparable, as both schools in that state have to recruit nationally anyways.

I agree that SC is not FL and I would not support the addition of Clemson because of it. If we only had one school in MS, I would be against the 2nd too. AL is different though because AU sphere of influence covers a lot of GA and I could see benefit there. A 2nd school would probably be a toss up to me.

FL has the dominant market share in the state, but a lot of TVs are watching FSU. In addition, given the strength of the SEC, the number of compelling games that they would be in probably at least doubles which increases share on a broader basis.

I understand the "hate," but they would be a good deal for the conference.

There's no question that the state of Florida can support two SEC schools. It's only a question of if the existing SEC school would support the admission of a second.

We've had the answer from UF, and that is a resounding "No!"

They spend every dime they have and take some from the state too. Maybe if they are in the SEC they will get off the state's tit. They will always be little sister no matter what conference they are in. Let them in so they can have a tougher schedule and see how much they like the SEC then. I am all for letting them in. It will be like when trailer trash hits the lottery. They won't have a clue what to do. They will probably get a better circus tent.

just because florida can support 2 schools doesn't mean uf should be ok with fsu being in the sec.

it just makes no sense what so ever for uf to want to help fsu

the goal of a rival should be to do to its rival what LSU has done to tulane

Exactly, just because it can doesn't mean it should. I mean A&M would be the sole SEC school in Texas, no one seems to be bothered by that. No one has any clue if FSU would add anything nationally, the SEC is already far and away the most watched games each week. We like watching FSU struggle to fill their stadium and have to beg for money, I guess it is a rival thing

Finally, one poster in the whole thread without his tail between his legs.

Can't believe the fap fap fapping going on in this thread, even dutch ruddering, and circle jerkin about keeping a little sister of the poor out. Sound like a bunch of fraidy [s]cats[/] gators to me. I guess big brother ain't so tough after all.

Well, our schedule will get tougher. Recruiting will be tougher (FSU's last 10 recruiting ranks: #2, #10, #7, 9, #21, #3, #2, #3, #21, #4) Dey gonna gets moe money

They should change the name of this place:

Living in SFLA I can tell you that the UF people are arrogant conceded pricks. The FSU people are more southern like. Nice folks that love\their team but are not the idiots that reside in Gainesville. The tide is turning in FL. This is the second year of Jimbo out recruiting the almighty Gator Nation....

Oh I know. That is why Clemson won't get asked to join. They could have the best football team for the next 5 years and still wouldn't be asked because adding them doesn't add any significant TV market. We (USC) are big enough and spread out across the state enough to secure any real revenue this state has to offer from that vantage point. I don't think securing the Greenville, SC market (the 3rd biggest city in the state) is worth adding Clemson.

If we added Clemson each SEC institution would lose money when cutting the pie 13 ways. The idea behind adding A&M is expanding the TV market to the point where we'd be splitting it 13 ways but still be making more money.

What I was sympathizing with the UF fans are trying to keep an in-state rival out of any benefits of being in the SEC.

I have been advocating a 2nd team in TX for exactly the same reasons. The big problem in TX is the lack of a slam dunk since TX is a no go. I've been advocating for "investing," which it would be, in TCU due to location in the DFW metro area. TT and Baylor are just non starters imo, but TCU could be made into something.

People are kidding themselves if they think keeping them out is really hurting them. Better to make them face tougher competition if you want to limit there accomplishment. IMO, they just can't stand the thought of finishing behind them in the standings without an excuse that they play a tougher schedule.

True.

I'm sure if the roles were reversed FSU would be just pleading with the other schools to let us in.

The FSU post above is exactly why I don't want them in. Who complained about recruiting? I just don't want FSU getting more money. It's a rival thing for sure. They feel the same damn way.

You opinion is incorrect. I can't stand the thought of finishing behind them no matter what league they are in. I don't even care if the sport is frisbee golf.

ETA: Them playing a much tougher schedule is the only reason I could be convinced it's a good idea FWIW. Even then, I'm not sure it's enough. Let them wallow in that sucky ACC football league.

Separate question: If I were FSU I would not be wanting to leave. Miami could be done. NC is on probation. UVA can't get out of it's own way and will never be a threat again. WF had their run. NCSU is meh. Maryland is meh. GT runs a high school offense. BC is meh.

They have an absolute cake walk to a BCS game for the forseeable future IMO. Who's going to stop them. Climpson or VT???

UF is no longer the big dog in the state of FL. FSU kicked your arse last year in Urban's final game. I loved it... Now you have Miami making a come back. By the way Muschump is not the answer. Should have gone after Mullin at MSU.

UF will remain down and out forever.

Miami with Temple's coach and a top 30 recruiting class is going to win the NC.

Your Muschamp opinion may or may be right but since you said he's not the answer he must not be.

We are so fricked.

You can have Mullen when Les is done if you want him. No thanks.

Glad you were happy with the FSU win. Glad you were sad the previous 5 years too.

You've got a lot of angst built up. You might want to leave the Sunshine state for your own health. Way too much tension.

6 years, really should be 7

They win once and it is the end of days for UF.
