Would be curious to compare that to the ACC's fee.

It's being debated around $24M, I think.

I think they were promised 20 million to hang around for a year (last year), and I'm not sure the B12 wanted to pay it. So there's that to deduct from whatever the exit fee is.

Ok...bottom line is that is a bunch of money, but nothing to keep the move from happening.

Therefore, people can stop saying that ACC teams are out of play due to the $20 million exit fee.

Yes, but that can be one more reason on a laundry list of reasons not to make the move. I think if any of them were going to make the move, they wouldn't have voted to higher fee in.

well, maybe they didn't want to be obvious about it. If they don't agree to the raising of the fee, then people will know they are looking...leads to instability. Plus, if none of the ACC schools have been approached by the SEC, there is no reason to balk at raising the fee.

FWIW, Maryland and FSU voted against raising the fee to $30 million a few days after $20 million was voted upon.

yea actually they tried to raise it to 34 million and FSU and Maryland said frick no.

Also chicken something to think about, the big east has a mandatory wait of 27 months to leave the conference.

27 months of lost revenue> 20 million.

ACC teams are not off the table by any means.

A&M buyout was 50% higher then the ACC buyout but yet they left. Is it a hindrance? Sure, but every team has these. In fact I would say that ACC teams have the clearest path to leave. No wait time and no lawsuits. Just a simple pay and leave.

It will be 1 years television money or less. This will amount to something between 12-14 million. Similar to what Nebraska paid last year. If the Big XII has plans on expanding, they will not want to scare any schools away with punitive fees to A&M. That's assuming the Texas greed, instability, non-revenue sharing, litigation threats and 6 year binding television rights aren't enough to do that in the first place..

yea it was originally 30 million but Big 12-2 didnt keep their promise so A&M will just forfeit this past years TV money which was supposed to be over 20 million but is going to end up around 12.

The 27 month waiting period to leave the Big East can be negotiated down. Rarely is anything in a contract ever mandatory.

Good article explaining what the fees for MO (and A&M) would most likely be and why. You can skip the contract language part and get to the analysis if you like:

Reality: There are no barriers to MO in SEC

That is a good analysis. It sounds like the SEC network via ESPN will be a windfall for conference schools. I don't have much of a feeling either way regarding MO, but they are crazy if they stay in the Big 12.

The Bovine 9 is just a joke at this point.

Stable teams:
Texas - No one wants them with their LHN.
TTU - Tied to Texas, and I am not convinced their football will be anything post Mike Leach.
OU - Pac 12 didn't want them with OSU.
OSU - Actually a damn good program right now, and there seems to be no limit as to what Pickens will spend on them.
Baylor - Happy bottom feeding in any AQ conference.
Iowa State - See Baylor

Unstable teams:
Mizzou - One foot out the door.
KU - Should be a great basketball pickup by someone.
KSU - Decent chance for a future because they are tied to KU.

That's how I see them, a six team conference that will add any combo of four directional schools to remain "legit."
