From VT web site:

NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION, Aug. 30, 2011 – The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors held a strategic planning retreat in conjunction with its regular quarterly meeting held Monday. Ensconced in the high tech environs of the new Virginia Tech Research Center -- Arlington, the board grappled with key issues and factors essential to future university goals and operations.

Unless someone posts a BOV Agenda (like what was done when the A&M Board of Regents met) we won't know what topics were discussed.

Link, anyone?

I'm really hoping that VT is the 14th team added.

The will be average at best in the SEC and add nothing else but football people thinking they own the DC market are kidding themselves , I think Mizzo would be a much better choice.

Mizzou is at best an average Big 12-2-1 team, so not much different than VT. Plus it wants a B1G invite; will it accept an SEC invite only to keep calling the B1G? That's like marrying a woman who you know will start scouring sugar daddy dating sites once you bring her home.

This. Missouri will rejoin with Nebraska at a later time.

Va Tech would have won the SEC East last year. They wouldn't win the SEC every other year like they do the SEC but they'd be a strong threat to make the SEC title game each year. Va Tech is plenty strong enough to compete in the SEC. Their recruiting will only improve in the league as well.

As for Mizzou somehow being a better choice than VT, the St Louis and Kansas City markets are no more passionate about Missouri athletics than DC is about Va Tech so I don't know where you're trying to go with that argument. If the SEC gets in a bind and ultimately does invite Mizzou I hope the offer is on the condition that they are added to the SEC East so that the current divisions aren't screwed up by their addition.

Their offense could barley score in the ACC and barley have the past 4 years. You have to be shitting me if you think they would do any damage vs SEC D's

South Carolina was EASILY the best SEC East team last year and they had their doors blown off by both Auburn and Arkansas. The SEC West dominated the East so thoroughly last year it was embarrassing. Trust me on this one, Va Tech would have won the SEC East last year if they got by South Carolina. It wasn't like USCe was unbeatable last year either. They lost 4 games.

I don't watch the ACC and have no dog in this fight, but didn't FSU beat USC pretty easily in their bowl game? The same FSU that didn't win the ACC? I'm sure the East will be strong again very soon because Florida, UGA and Tennessee seemed to be in flux last year, but it did seem pretty weak last season. Also probably a bad example of a year to use.

V-Tech? Too far north, almost north of the Mason-Dixon line.
What about G-Tech coming back into the SEC? I've alway thought they would be the best east coast candidate, but I haven't heard much talk out of this expansion board as to their desirability as a 14th team.
