Fine with it as long as the perm x div rivalry is gone.

I don't care how it is divided as long as the schedule format makes sense (and I already know it probably will not).

Why? I would rather have 1 permanent cross divisional rival and one rotating cross divisional rival.

Florida seems like the odd man out. they are far for the LSU and Arkansas and far for Mizzou and Vandy.

putting Mizzou in the East is the least disruptive. Pair up Mizzou and TAMU then your done.

One issue with 8 conference games, you will have only 1 rotating game against the other division meaning, outside of your permanent cross-divisional rival, you only play the other division's teams twice every 12 years. Which is about how often we played some teams before divisions. I dont think coaches want to go to 9 games especially with a neutral site SEC Title game. Maybe if they allow the top team host the Title game like the PAC12 is doing, 9 games wouldnt be too bad since you are increasing the chances of a SEC team in the BCS Title game

I would really just prefer 9 conference games. Most teams play a tough OOC game anyway. Now they can play an extra conf game to replace that game.

And now that everybody gets to go to a bowl that's when you get to play new teams. Or if there's a playoff

Except that the average person, living an average life span, will only see his team playing at home against a non-annual opponent from the other division six times between his birth and his death.

Why even bother to have a conference if you're not going to play the other teams in it?

Not gonna happen. Several ADs and SEC brass on record as saying they don't favor going beyond 8 conference games. I agree with them.

At that point, you don't have any non-permanent cross divisional rivals. You will probably get married more times than you will see your team play them over the course of your life. For non-permanent rivals in opposite divisions, it would be like having a cousin who lives in Siberia or something, and you only know he exists because your grandmother got a postcard with his picture in it when he was born 35 years ago. You may be related, but you aren't family.

I think that there has to be a nine game conference schedule. It's ridiculous to think that a kid could play at an SEC school four seasons and never play two of the teams in the SEC. That isn't really a conference.

meh. To me the thing to do is to drop the permanent cross-rivalry game. Bama (and Tenn) seems to be the only dissenter on that topic. There are too many $$$$ to be left on the table with 9 conf games. on average that's 0.5 less home games per year. Not to mention the coaches are probably all against 9 conference games. If you go to 9, you have less chances of an LSU/Oregon or UGA/Boise type of game. Recruits love those kinds of games.

Having that as the East/West divide makes as much sense as calling Algiers the "Westbank" (since it is actually due East from NO).

Better be. If Mizzou gets placed in the west, they are fricked.

Yeah, I'm sure Auburn and Georgia would be perfectly fine with that.

It's amazing all of the things you will try to say and do just so you don't have to play Florida every year.

From Mizzou's perspective, they want to be in the West (or have A&M as their permanent rival). They have something like 35 Texas kids on their roster. Gary Pinkel has built a very nice program from absolutely nothing, and he has done it with kids from Texas.
