Wasn't arguing that point with you, Chief. Everybody here is going to say history. Vandy is a founding member of the SEC and has been in the conference for 80 years. Seems like reason enough to me.

Well if we gonna invite everyone else in here just change the name of the conference. Won't be southeastern anymore which is the reason for the start of the thread. The Houston reference was a joke that makes more sense than having them instead of Vandy. I am all SEC and want only the best schools in the south. Like I said before, SEC should go after Florida State instead of even considering talking to Missouri.

I know Vandy is not going anywhere. If the only way A M was to join the SEC was to get rid of one SEC school, which would it be?
The frick? "get rid of one SEC school"? Why the hell are we discussing this?
I really need to quit posting in stupid threads.

And still no answer as to why keep Vandy. I figured you wouldn't have one.
you were already told once that a conference is more than football. Academics do matter. They aren't the driving force but to deny their relevance is idiotic.
why is this fact having such a hard time penetrating your brain?
its not ALL money and football. If that was true, the Pac12 would have taken OU and OSU, The SEC wouldn't take issue with East Carolina and potentially WVU, the Big10 would not care about AAU status...
Holy shite man, stop being so dense.

You start a thread essentially about the integrity of the conference and then toss around the idea of kicking Vandy out?

Vandy has a higher winning % than Mississippi State. Maybe we should kick them out instead. I mean why have two mediocre teams in Mississippi. Talk about overkill (small population and no TV markets). Vandy has about the same winning % as USC and UK (50%).

Best conferences should have the best teams. Last I checked, Vandy was not one of them. Get out from under your rock. It's year 2011. And yes, football is the biggest reason for conference expansion. Football brings in the most money.

This isnt the English Premier League where the bottom two soccer teams get relgated to the second division and the top two teams from the second divisions are promoted up. Though that does sounds like a neat idea. If this was the case, LSU would have probably been booted out of the SEC many times in the 90s. There are other factors such as tradition, rivalries, location, etc.
If you want the best, start a conference with the top 16 programs in the country and see how many wins LSU ends up with every year. Not going to be good every year. Historically, LSU would struggle to have even a winning record.

Let's face it, you are going to have some "have nots" in a conference. Some teams will struggle but have a "feel good" year once in a while. I.e. Ole Miss, MSU, USC, UK, and Vandy. Those "have nots" should then fit in because of location, tradition, and rivalries.

Great idea, we are in and I guess your team would be out. Guess you don't mind paying your employees sleeping on the job. Obviously you are fool if you think LSU was ever at the bottom of the bottom dwellers.Try google search it works.Bama, Tenn and Florida are the only two schools in the SEC LSU has a losing record against. LSU would not be booted out.

Do you follow football? Do you see how there is a former conference USA team now Big East who is ranked in the top 25 not long after joining the conference.

Well the reasoning to add teams because of media expose would certaintly rule out the Mississippi schools.

Vandy is a charter member, simple as that. Just because they have a different mission with academics and a slightly less passionate approach to athletics does not make them any less valuable. We are not the Big East that just tossed aside Temple.
If you had 12 kids, and one had a disability, you just toss him/her aside? Dude, your an arse.

Houston has a way bigger media market than Nashville.
OK, you keep throwing that out there. Out of 4 million people in the greater Houston area, about 50,000 give a shite about Houston Cougars. And that's being generous.

Vandy is grandfather in just like ole miss. That is the difference between the SEC and all out conference.

The OP has to bea pid kid. Vandy brings a lot to the table, and I'm not talking just about academics. This kid needs to look up and see how Vandy always is competitive in basketball, and baseball, among other sports. Hell, I was in TS in the seventies, when Vandy had a good team and we were worried that Vandy might beat us. Guess what OP, there is life outside of football. If you knew you history, Vandy has more accomplishments, athletic wise, than fellow CHARTER SEC members. I might be old, but I hate when idiots start threads like this, yet I'm an ever greater idiot for reading them and responding.

Looking at that US map really points towards a hole in NC.....
I bet that's Slive's dream.

UNC never leaves Duke and Duke never leaves UNC. And, now that the ACC is the best BB conference in the Universe, neither are going anywhere.
