The Big East is even worse than the Big 12. Even if the "leftovers" merge -- you still have an extremely weak conference.

Well, unless Texas decides to join so they can preserve the LHN. Wouldn't that be funny?

Completely agree. Great move by the ACC thou especially for basketball. Adding Cuse and Pitt to that league, wow

If you're TCU, you're either:

1) pissed that the conference you thought were joining is falling apart before you get there

or

2) excited that you might be playing closer opponents in KU, KSU, MU, & BU (maybe)

or

3) pissed cuz they're Baylor. Baylor. Go to the WAC and shut your piehole

it will be interesting to see what happens to the non-football schools in the big east. looking more and likely they will have to have their own non-football conference.

This assumes that Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12. If, and I think they will, stay together then the B12(Less Neb/Col/A&M) would need to add 5 teams to their conference. That is easy for them honestly.

1.) TCU -> Big East falls and they get out of their contract
2.) South Florida -> Same as above, but unlike TCU they give you another market. Plus your games move into SEC country.
3.) Southern Mississippi -> See USF
4.) Nevada -> I dunno...just seems like it would happen.
5.) I have no idea. I would assume they either take Houston or SMU.

The Big East will either fall or they are going after Big 12 also rans who are now clinging to the A&M law suit. My guess would be Kansas and K State would be looked at by the East.

I think the shuffle that is now in full swing will offically end the Big 12! I do not think it can be held together at this point. the snowball is rolling now and fast.

No I don't want Baylor anywhere near my alma mater thank you. (Besides we don't play football so we can't visit the famous Tarp-O-Shame.)

I would add Air Force. LHN may think its big but its nowhere near the size of the Armed Forces Network. Plus there are several Air Force Bases in Big 12-x country; some airmen (if they can get liberty) may be able to attend nearby games.

i don't want to hear anymore about how BC can't travel well. TCU is moving to the big east so it's tiresome to hear this argument of teams who can't sell out bowl games.

Marinatto said there is no conference rule to force a member to notify the commissioner it has applied to another conference.

"Out of courtesy, I'm sure they would, but there is no protocol," he said.

In charge since 2009, Marinatto said his conference has a plan to react to several situations. He wouldn't say if that included losing Syracuse, an original member when the conference formed in 1979, and Pitt, which joined three years later.

"I'm not at liberty to get into all of that right now," he said.

Marinatto nevertheless proceeded with his work. He paced the back hallways of the press box with ear buds connecting him to a cell phone he spoke into during long conversations. Then he disappeared.

During a brief conversation with two reporters, his phone lit up several time with incoming messages.

"Two weeks ago I was at the USF-Notre Dame game and literally during the whole game the whole Big XII thing was unfolding," he said.

Notre Dame's sports information director, Bernie Cafarelli, got Marinatto to a private area with a landline and the commissioner spent the game on the phone while the Bulls earned a big win for the conference.

"It was unfolding before our very eyes," he said. "I find myself right now doing the same."

Marinatto, with red eyes and an exasperated expression, said this has been a routine for a while now and there's just one way to handle the stories as they appear and develop.

"We try to respond to every situation, whether it's a tweet or a phone call or whatnot," he said. "We try to verify whether or not the situation is true. There have been so many over the last two years."

TCU may be regretting their decision to move to a crumbling conference. But when you have a chance to jump to an AQ, you take it.

If the ACC, BIG X, PAC-12, and SEC all go to 16 teams, they will each add 4 teams (for a total of 16)

The Big East (including TCU) and Big-12 have 19 teams. That only leaves 3 schools out. Sure there will be some non-BCS schools picked up by the big 4, but the leftovers will be weak.

I think this means that the Big-12 is toast and that a lot of the current Big East members (who would have been in on the talks) aren't very excited about being in a conference with TCU, Baylor, Kansas, K-State and Iowa State.

But the ACC wouldn't have let them apply unless they knew they were going to have some vacancies, so I think it also means that at least two ACC teams are thinking of jumping to the SEC!

Also says 10 teams have applied to the ACC. Probably the eight in the Big East, UCF and ECU.

So where does this leave the SEC with West Virginia? They are the best available if the ACC is off limits. Missouri for 15 but then where does 16 come from if Texas isn't an option?

I don't think the ACC is going to 14 spontaneously. I think they're just trying to keep their CG because they're losing two.

I don't think the SEC has to worry. I mean if the reports of 10 schools contacting the Big East about membership is true...then i would think a power house like the SEC has had more then it's share of requests or at least phone calls come it's way.

But what 10 schools, are we talking U-La-La caliber, or 10 good schools?
