I've heard the AD's at SMU,Boise St,Houston, and UCF were aiming for this merger instead of going to the Big East.

I'm really hoping the big east and sun belt merge to make the Sun Beast conference.

I'd go with the Big 2. They're going to have two 11 team divisions at the moment. Good luck scheduling that shite.

In the conference call this afternoon, the C-USA commish was talking about 4 divisions, with the division winners playing the week before the conference CG. Would definitely help scheduling. Basically, it's all one conference (in football only), but very much like the BCS play-in game they were talking about.
Right now, I'm guessing it would look something like this (assuming no poaching and raiding what's left of the WAC):
Pacific Div: Hawaii, SDSU, UNLV, UNR, Boise, Fresno
Mountain Div: Utah St., Wyo, CSU, AF, UNM, UTEP,
Central: SMU, Tulsa, Rice, Houston, Tulane, La Tech
Eastern: Memphis, Marshall, ECU, UAB, UCF, USM
5 games in division, 3 more with your side of the conference and then the semis & CG for a BCS berth. Then split the $ 24 ways and it's about like everything is now.

we're all making fun of this shite but these schools basically just saved their 2 conferences from any changes. with everyone calling for "stability" this is the most stable move that has been made so far. props to them for being proactive, regardless of the quality of the conference.

Wow I think this is awesome. It will make their conference champ awfully vetted and I will be excited to actually watch the process, with a play-in game, if that happens. It would be kind of a mini-playoff. Inching closer.

Also they'll be able to handle most any poaching situations, just with their sheer numbers and dichotomous regional access.

I agree with the post above, i think this is a good thing for these two conferences. It gives them the best chance for survival.
