As stated earlier, Auburn had to give up its traditional matchups in '92.
I like how Auburn-Florida is being elevated into a "traditional rival" today.
I just asked a 52 year old Florida grad in my office who Florida's traditional rivals are, and Auburn wasn't in the five schools he named. When I asked about Auburn, he said "well, we used to play them a lot, but they aren't really rivals".

I hate to see the SEC bring in Mizz at this juncture in the conference realignment process. IMO, the SEC is the premiere conference, they don't have to make a decision right now. Wait it out and see what the landscape looks like this time next year.......
This mentality is so fricking dumb.
Realignment is being driven by the Big Ten Network's success.
That model has worked well because of TV sets in Big 10 states.
The SEC needs to add as many TV sets to its footprint as possible because that's going to be a major driving force in the next round of tv negotiations.
Missouri has two top 20 tv markets. This isn't rocket science.
If we want the SEC to continue to be the premier conference in the nation and not get passed by other conferences that have more money to spend on facilities and coaches, WE MUST EXPAND TO STATES WITH MARKETS LIKE MISSOURI HAS
The fricking Alabama-Tennessee game is a very minor concern.

Auburn and Florida played every year (save WW2 years) from 1927 to 2002. That's about as TRADITIONAL as it gets.

You have really stupid friends.

isn't that mostly because UF wasn't the powerhouse it is now back then? the stronger your school's history, the more 'rivals' you have.
for example, vandy has no real rivals because vandy will probably just lose to them.
or am i wrong?

Right here. Entitlement. Stupidity. Delusion.
All wrapped up in one lil phrase. Thanks for proving my point gump.
Again, bama can frick itself and its entitlement (and I will add delusion) mentality.
I KNEW that one lil phrase would get you TiM.
Oh, welcome back to the rant. You were gone forever, where did you spend your time during your bannage?

FWIW I'm not sure if MU is the right fit for the SEC or not - but the people running around saying they suck are at least exaggerating
Over the last five years they have 48 wins and 19 losses - not elite but an average of about 10 wins and 4 losses a year is hardly bad. In that stretch they have also made it to the Big 12 championship twice and gone 3-0 against SEC teams (granted it was just Ole Miss and Arkansas)
Do I think they would be a powerhouse in the SEC? No, they would probably be another Arkansas or South Carolina - but a middle tier program that makes the SEC money isn't exactly a bad thing

That's bullshite, I've seen one person that on this thread that believes that shite.
Let me kindly direct you to your other statement....

It's fricking Alabama and Tennessee for crying out loud. They "are" the SEC.
Now you can back-pedal and deny all you want, but you're implying that there's no way that the SEC would go against UA/UT.

When they went to divisions, they needed Auburn to bend and give up the UT rivalry. Auburn gave.
When they decided it was best to go to only ONE permanent non-division rival, they needed Auburn to bend and give up the UF rivarlry. Auburn gave.
Cuase you are a bunch of pushover pussies.

Please explain to me, in today's SEC, when has Bama given?
Nothing. Staying that way too

I'm thinking that Auburn fans are considering Florida big rivals, about like LSU fans lately consider Alabama big rivals...its just not reciprocated.
Playing every year does not a rivalry make.

I'd hate for you to lose it too. But i also think it's a smart move for auburn to go to the east to make sure we preserve our other rivals and gamble that we still get to keep bama.

I bet if you asked Steve Spurrier and Wilber Marshall and Emmitt Smith if Auburn was a rival while they were playing at UF, you'd get an answer that doesn't fit your or your idiot co-workers world-view.

No need to get bent out of shape.

I'm not sure you beat us enough "lately" for us to consider it a rivalry.

Do any of you actually feel like Mizzou is strong enough that revenue split doesn't suffer a bit at first?
I seriously doubt anyone here is qualified to doubt that Mizzou brings increased per-school revenue. SEC spends hundreds of thousands consulting with people whose expert opinion matters.

Bama wants a better team to be #14. AU just wants to get it done and get out of division w/ Bama & LSU. Everyone has their motivating factors.
How short-memoried are you? You think taking on Florida, Georgia and Tennessee is a permanant step down?
I think from Auburn's point of view, assuming Auburn/Bama stays annual with cross-divisional ties, we're only giving up LSU and are gaining Florida back. Throw in that UGA + UT + USC > Ark + MSU + OM, then I'd hardly say Auburn is taking an easy road.
