i don't think 1 8 win season out of 6 is all that bad. i think 4 11 win seasons out of 6 seasons is pretty fricking great. have i accepted mediocrity?

Has not happened even two years under Miles! What are you talking about?

Agreed, but it could easily happen by the end of next season (3 out of 4 9 win seasons or less)

to all who want Les fired for having an 8 win or 9 win season, you should have to endure a little of the Curly Hallman era. 8 or 9 wins then we would have thought we were in heaven.

Don't be dumb. Lsu is NOT the same program it was in 1993.

Not even close. That's not apples and oranges, that's bikes and bananas.

What happens IF Les comes back and we don't lose a game all next year.

Let's say we win every game by 2-10 points (with some really ugly wins) and then blow out Ohio State in New Orleans by 20.

What will this board say then?

Not taxpayers.

Yes, and both of those sources of revenues are optional and voluntary.

But he would like to see a commitment from the administration that he's not going to be fired after an eight win season

These same retards advocating for Miles will be wanting to fire him if he loses 4 games next year.

Miles is a 10 win at best coach with NFL talent. He had awesome teams in his first four years and was LUCKY to get to the BCSNCG in 07.

He's not saying he wants to be able to have 8 win seasons in perpetuity, but that if one or two rear their head during a down period, he shouldn't be catching flack from the AD that he catches from an overemotional fan base.

So, basically, you're saying the administration should be more rational and have more foresight than some of the loony fanbase. Interesting concept.

Urbie had 7 wins a year after a national title WITH Tim Tebow. Miles hasn't had less than 8 with worse QBs.

Urban went 7-5 in the regular season this year

Miles went 7-5 in the regular season in 2008

Good point...

maybe Les can agree to get paid in Top 20 if "8 wins" is magic number ?

Of course that's what he meant. However, unlike fans at Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and every other elite program, fans at LSU fail to understand that 8 and 9 win seasons are going to happen from time to time. A string of 3 or 4 such seasons in a row should be cause for concern. Not 1 or 2.

HA! Sorry. I assumed it was an acronym for World Wide Leader (in sports). My bad. Just the same though. Yesterday everyone was speculating that he would leave if offered. Now all of a sudden everyone is speculating he will stay because nothing has leaked out. Everyone wants to be right, but they want to be the first so they can say seeeeee I broke the story.

puplehaze said a few days ago that if LSU doesn't win the SEC next year, Miles should be fired, even if the team goes 12-1...

Well then, you don't ask for a clause in your contract that automatically tacks on another year for an 8 win season.

That's, in essece, what he's asking for. I agree with you in principle, but contractually, that's not how it would work.

Did you even read the link, moron? It says 'an occasional' 8 win season. Stop with the hysterical hyperbole!

Someone is yet to answer this: how exactly do you put that in a contract?
