Wouldn’t you believe that OC and DC really go hand in hand?

Certain types of offense are aided by certain types of defense and the vice versa. We don’t want just two random styles. We want them to mesh together.

That is probably wishful thinking. Sounds good but finding an OC and DC that fits the players you have would be my focus.

Remember when this only came up when talking about your car. Now it's the new buzz word.

Yes I guess that is the word you can use. I really do believe it is important. It sets the temp of the games and therefore the coaching decisions made. Things like when to punt, when to throw deep, when to run, when to play up tempo and so on.
Remember not too long ago we used to debate this with the high speed offense and Arandas defense. There was a curve for Aranda on how to run his defense under those circumstances.

Every DC prefers a ball control offense that will eat clock and limit possession. Because that will always keep your numbers looking good.

That being said, I doubt Any OC cares what “style” of defense a DC has. “Good” or “effective”

Good coordinators are probably the most important thing.
