I couldn't see SP in college unless there were no other options. He'll go to Miami or Indy if he leaves at all.

Aren't the Dolphins suppose to come calling at the end of the season?
As well as Dan Campbell does, I can't imagine them giving him the job in any circumstance. Though Jason Garrett pulled it off, so who knows?

Can Payton recruit? Was he ever a college coach? Unless he was an unpaid graduate assistant somewhere in 1987.
There are too many good NFL jobs that are open or will be open. I could see him walking into Indy and clicking with Luck like he did with Brees.

He has been in the NFL since 1997. The college game has changed since the last time he was in the college game coaching.

Texas would be crazing enough to pay $8M a year to get a coach that hasn't been in the college game in 18 years.

This would have Charlie Weis written all over it then, and for Weis, there was a huge gap in years between his days in South Carolina and ND. Seems like he never adapted to the college game schematically since.

I'm sure he could dominate the college game pretty easily from a pure coaching perspective, but he isn't going to be use to the time demands of the college student or how much detail you can go into before the kids heads explode and they play like garbage on the field because too much info has been thrown at them.
After 18 years of doing this full-time as a job, not easy to go back to the college level and only have "20 hours" to get the kids ready to play each week.

Plenty could but none are looking and he wouldn't be interested.
Texas and Alabama definitely have that kind of money if you want examples.
