Yes, it is a bit of a stretch but Kelly has no better options and could help hold on to current players and recruits. I think Inmake Kelly say no before calling anyone else.

If you think he has better options list them. He will not be a candidate for an NFL HC job. Minnesota is the only major college coaching job open. In an interview he has already said he would be happy to be an OC, a clear admission that he is not in line for a HC job. Go for it. List them.

Doesn't mean that's the only possibility.

You think Tenn or A&M wouldn't love to get him right now?

Chip is doing everything he can to sabatoge his career. He could have been one of the cfb coaching goats but instead he is chasing something he isn't good at.

I am sure they would. However, neither of those jobs are open or likely to be open (someone posted on here that Sumlin has a $15 mil buyout, but who knows), meaning neither is currently an option. Minnesota is the only one open. He is being paid by both Philly and San Fran. Offer him as much as you can and see what he says.

Now, might he be there more than a year? Probably not, unless he wants back in the NFL. If that is the case you likely have him for 3 years.

They can become open. That's the point. Lots of jobs can become open.....UCLA, ASU, Arizona...etc. The list goes on. Just because Minny is the only one open currently doesn't mean that's his only choice.

Right now it is. The odds of one of those schools making a change this late in the game are pretty small. Most schools fire a coach closer to the end of the season if they are making a change. Plus, if I am Kelly I want it known MN made the offer. If no one contacts me after that I know what my options are for next season.

Chip can go do TV back near his home in Philly for a year before getting back into the college game. He's not in a rush to the point of landing at MN.

Wait a year and he can get TAMU or Arizona State or the like.

Also Chip is still getting paid. It's not like he needs to work.

there's only a handful of coaches who are safe from being fired to bring on Chip.

Yeah, he loves his time with the media.

He's being paid, he WON'T do tv.

Well, none have been fired.

Note that my questions is not whether Chip would accept but whether MN should call. I guess, unlike certain athletic directors that shall go unnamed, when I have a job open I would make the best say no. In this case, one of the best college football coaches of the last 10 years is unemployed and I have the only open job. I make the call.

There are multiple CFB teams that would fire their coach if Chip Kelly wanted to come there.
