Would everyone be happy if after signing day Cregg was fired and DeCoster was OL coach?

I know he’s never coached OL before but that’s the position he played in college and it’s rumored the staff regrets letting him get away. I think I’d be happy taking the gamble on the coaching end to get the recruiting value he brings. I doubt it would be hard to get him to leave Old Dominion.

If we depart from Cregg I’d want the new OC to be able to pick at least that one position. He’ll inherit Joseph(good recruiter, but idk how much actual coaching he does) and Faulk, and possibly a PGC if we (LSU) pick that without his input.
And unless you get Grimes or Sowder as your OC, you need a good OL coach to carry out the OCs vision...

Sowder would be fricking fantastic but I don’t see it happening.

I don’t know about DeCoster but I do know it’s time for Cregg to go.

DeCoster coached OL at the D2 level and as a GA at Nevada.
Not sure he’s ready for the full-time gig at LSU.
Best case for Decoster is we hire Grimes for OC and he coaches TE and assists with the OL.

Then what happens with Callaway? He will be in there somewhere. I just don’t know how Decoster gets in unless Callaway is OC and/or Cregg is gone (which I don’t think will happen).

You’ve got room for one more staff member if Raymond takes over the whole secondary.
Maybe they want to roll that spot over to the offense to make room for Decoster.
Not saying that’s what’s going to happen but that is one way to make it work

Cregg fina reel in Leigh.
Thats the only thing keeping him employed right now. If a miss he will be gone the next day. We will know in a few days after leigh makes his decision. We need a guy that can recruit and Cregg does not seem to be that guy.

Calloway would QB coach and possibly PGC in that scenario.

So go with one coach for Dbs and the DC has to coach LBs so each offensive player has their own personal coach.

Yea, that’s not going to happen

I'm not happy until everyone is fired and we hire who I want....
Every sport. Every year.

Why? Because a bunch of self appointed fantasy league GMs think he is garbage?
Dude had a young squad in 2018. Takes same squad to 15-0 and OL of the year. 3 drafted and at least 5 on NFL rosters. This past year he just magically forgot how to coach.
We watched three new QB's wet the bed this year and 5 RBs that could not figure out how to run behind zone blocking like everyone else runs. We did get manhandled by a couple of teams and could not get enough push to run the ball but is that the OL coaches failure or the S&C coaches failure?

He asked how it could work. I posed a possible situation where it could work. Get off my nuts.

Except Cregg didn’t really have the best OL in college last year. Who here really thinks our OL was better than Alabama or Georgia’s? I sure don’t. We had an amazing QB with a 6th sense for feeling pressure and being able to escape it, 3 1st round WR who could get open in a flash, a sure handed TE that could block as well as anyone and RB that he WR like hands, a break your ankles spin move and was underrated in his ability to pick up a blitz blocking to go with a quick strike offense where the QB got rid of the ball in a hurry. All these things made them look much better than they really were. It’s not to say they were bad, the interior of OL was very strong. They just weren’t the best.

I know he’s never coached OL before
Absofrickinglutely Not!
No gambles at LSU any longer. Up the ante. Raise the standards. Elevate the expectations.
Hey, if you're serious about winning the SEC West/SEC, go make an "In your Face" move and hire Alabama's OL coach.

If it’s a guy like Cregg that can’t develop raw talent than, yes, you have to have a top tier recruiter. Cregg is an awful recruiter and can’t develop raw talent (most OL coming into college) to save his life. He’s great at developing experienced guys though, which worked for last year but was awful this year without having that many experienced guys.
